Great news on Malceski. Let's hope that the operation will be a total success. With regards Barry's injury and possible return in round 12, this will be fantastic for the second half of the season. I don't know if this has been mentioned but has any consideration, if any needed, has been given to the possible mental, if any, scars resulting to the hit on Staker. I for one sincerely hope not.

You raise a good point. He will be targeted incessantly by opposition defenders and will be under intense scrutiny by the umps so he needs, ne HAS to be on his best behavior for the rest of his career.
Only time will tell how he reacts to all the attention and how he repays the faith the team has shown in him by retaining him in the leadership group.
Lets all hope he comes back bigger and better than ever.

The Herald Sun reports this morning that Nick Malceski will return in the ressies next week at ANZ Stadium against Tuggaranong 86 days after surgery.
Barry Hall on track to resume against St.Kilda in round 12,he has two more weeks in plaster.

Here’s a few pics to brighten a ‘footy-less’ weekend.

Cheers, Syd. Made my day. :thumbsu:

And interestingly no strapping on Mal's knee either.

Anyways, i'm even more excited for Sundays ressies game now. I was already going to be there cheering for Beanie in his first game, but this makes it all even more exciting.

Exert from article,

Malceski is poised to play for the Swans' reserves side against Tuggeranong after completing a full training session on Friday, 11 weeks after he seriously injured his knee in a February pre-season match.

The only drill he skipped in Friday's session was one that included full-contact tackling, however, he has already done some of those exercises.

Sydney Swans physiotherapist Matt Cameron is confident Malceski is where he needs to be for his awaited return.

"He is fully fit, he has also got mental confidence" he said in Saturday's Herald Sun. "At this point, so close, it often depends on how they look rather than a black-and-white test.

Worries me a bit that he is already coming back so soon, mostly due to the surgury, but to say that hes confident and miss the full contact tackling drills doesnt make sense. What do they think the opposition going to do not tackle him? Anyway if it were me id be a bit apprehensive..
I hope he makes it back successfully and gets back to his best late in the season for finals (if we make it)..

I can't believe how quick its all been ...

Knock on wood he's 100% and will be for a long, long time.

OMG SOOOO CUTE

Baz looks funny/cute aswell with his cast

cant wait 2 see both of them back

I saw eski last week walking hell fast so i think hes gonna be fit and fighting on sunday i bet hes dying for a game

Thanks for the pictures Syd. It definitely warmed the heart seeing Nick running and kicking. And at Baz, I can't believe he's already marking with the cast on!

i noticed that to. great signs is all i can take from that.

The thing with strapping is that it is 90% a mental aid. It really offers only minimal protection. But often players just want to feel something there for reassurance. Obviously he's very confident about how things are progressing.

depends whaat area is strapped, but in general yeah.

i read that they were saying he was really confident and behind the surgery from day one. so his mental situation must be quite positve

Judging by those images ..

Malceski kicking is at full stretch and power by the look of those kicks. I honestly believe the Swans have been overly cautious about this, which is great. Malceski will be ready 100% when he returns in the reserves.

I would say for him, the only reason for a reserves match would be to bring him up to speed.

Good signs.

Hall also looks very very fit.

I think Hall has been seriously punishing himself on the track every since the suspension. Here's hoping that translates into being a world beater from round 12 onwards.

It was his right knee that was injured

Mal's a left footer bedford, and his right is bearing the weight of his body through the kick, so its a good sign nevertheless. Does anyone know if he can kick from both sides of his body?

As ssfc0203 said a lot of his weight is on his right leg. especially when he lands afterward. To be kicking the ball like that, he must have a lot of confidence in his knee.

I had to cringe when I saw that picture of him kicking the ball. Instinctively, I looked straight down at his knee to see if it was okay. I on the other hand have no confidence at all. :thumbsd:
