I need to say this Pies supporters. If Malthouse plays his one dimensional game plan this year and keeps playing players out of position. Then his tenure at collingwood should finish at the end of this year.Think about it we keep getting critisicised about our SLOW midfield, but the players we need for speed are already there. We agree and some supporters have been saying for years we need to adddress the ruck situation, what's been done ...zippp...poor josh who has too much class to be a bullocking ruckman has been solo in his efforts.Davis must play full time in the midfield..the guy has been screaming to play for years and when given game time the guy is electric...travis and pendles have got booming left foots but are not allowed to play their natural game.Chip here chip it there to no avail.....i can keep going on and on but all you guys out there know the story..If we lose to north there will be hell to pay..
Malthouse you must have a game plan A,B,C that's the only way to outsmart the competition!
If he doen'st work out i am throwing the gauntlet down... I love this club and buggered if i'm going to keep putting up with mediocraty for years.
We have the playing group barr 2 -3 players which we can nuture through the draft.New coach for collingwood.....MICK MAGUANE....FORWARD COACH PETER DAICOS.....NEW BOARD MEMBER...MICHAEL CHRISTIAN.This will be the new future collingwood...Eddie has done well...but the balls are no longer there..........................What do we want as loyal supporters PREMIERSHIPS NOT EXCUSES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!AND WE DON'T HAVE TO WAIT TILL 2011 TO GET THEM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We were the highest scoring team in the league last year

Not a bad dimension if you can only have one

True but what happened in the finals...It's all to no avail if you can't go all the way.I mean look at the drugged up eagles they won a premiership because the swans lost it.
That means the swans didn't have great players but are a champion team.
And roos has game plan a,b,c and never plays players out of position.
If the eagles lost that grand final last year. The heart would have been ripped out of that club by now, especially with all the drug publicity.more than half those players would have scattered by now looking for other clubs.

I think you will find now taz is gone the opposition coaches will be able to create a hell of a lot more rebound and drive out of our forward line, something that could well see us get thumped tomorrow by the AFL rabble.. We now have 2 big and slow forwards being the main focal point down their, if they dont force respect then MM had better have a plan a,b,c,d,e,f and g, cause you can be damn sure every other coach in the comp will be looking at our forward line knowing it could hurt us more than it can hurt them.. But hey thats what MM is getting paid for, im sure he has it all taken care of, the past speaks louder than any words :D

No.1 attack in 2006...winning comes from the result on the scoreboard.

I think nothing really needs to be addressed, at present time.

Hey jimmy bean you could be right.that's what i'm getting at about malthouse having more than one or two game plans.Innovative coaches are ahead of the rest, that's why roos and eade worsfold are the games best coaches.Malthouse is either dumb or can't be f...cked.
Tarrant did what last year.....Zippo why? he was playing injured...and was first in goal assists....so what all we have to do is find a player in the collingwood team to assist in goals like tarrant used to do .It's actually quite simple.
Maybe we should adopt this game plan...Get first use of the ball out of centre, boom it long into the forward line..Always have a few talls and some crumbers down there and kick the goals......Out of the centre staright into the forward line kick the goal.Forget about chipping side ways left or right...from the centre straight down the centre corridor...if it's delivered quickly you don't have to worry about flooding and turnovers, problem solved.

Malthouse had a completely fresh gameplan last year. If our gameplan is modelled on what went right last year (i.e. the quick, high scoring, a hell of a lot of running and rebound) then we will move forward. We got found out, but that was due to poor form more than anything, and the fact the core of the playing group are used to more defensive and short games.

Your right jabso, im the first to admit MMs game plan last year was the best gameplan i have ever seen him use, when the gates opened it was unreal and taz played a massive role in that strategy. Any team was vulnerable, but when it went wrong and got hurt on the rebound we started to go way too defensive. A few quick changes and we could have still been kicking massive scores by going abit deeper and trying to control the corridor instead of getting lead wide then switch and cut open, ala bulldogs basketball game plan.

Do any of you people have a copy of Collingwoods game plan ? Surely you can't be commenting on any sort of gameplan when you yourself don't know what it is. I'm happy to be proven wrong though if anyone can produce the official gameplan.

Couldn't agree more. Malthouse intorduced an entirely new game plan last season which was very effective to a certain extent. A year on, I can only see it being executed more efficiently. It required alot of hard running and I feel we ran out of legs after the Brisbane game. Fundamentaly the game plan is fine. Just needs some tweaking and no doubt they would have worked on fitness levels over the pre-season.I say stick to plan A. My only drawback is MM's lack of plan B...Once opposition coaches worked us out, we didnt seem to have any counter measures. Only a fool would have left that issue un-addressed over the summer.

Daics Cousin: You may be the first and only person rating Worsfold amongst the best coaches in the AFL. No disrespect to Worsfold, but he copped a caning from the press for some unimaginative performances last year......having said that, if I had Robert Walls saying I was no good, I'd almost take it as a feather in my cap. Walls is one of the poorest researched commentators in the game.

" Maybe we should adopt this game plan...Get first use of the ball out of centre, boom it long into the forward line..Always have a few talls and some crumbers down there and kick the goals......Out of the centre staright into the forward line kick the goal.Forget about chipping side ways left or right...from the centre straight down the centre corridor...if it's delivered quickly you don't have to worry about flooding and turnovers, problem solved."

OK...there's plan A. You're gonna need more than that given we don't have a dominant ruckman unless we are scheduled to play 22 weeks against witches hats.

I'm not sure what this all means but I'm guessing todays lunch was a liquid one!

get over tarrant he has gone live with it

I also think that a lot of players get played out of position, it sems the only players who regularly play the same positions are the backs. Having said that...... Malthouse has obviously seen a lot of footy and knows on ballers/forwards have to be versatile to win a premiership. They have to be able to play multiple positions so if they get beaten in one they can be switched and hopefully create a mismatch. If only we had three more Frasers who can play well just about anywhere. Today Fraser got monstered in the ruck by a big boy and there was no one else to put in there that was big enough to go against him. Why was Bryan left out? Yes I know Richards needs game time but they got pushed around like rag dolls! Rocca was the only one who pushed him around in one of the throw ins. The fact that the umpire couldn't bounce the ball straight didn't help either because it meant more body work against that big clucker. Masybe the versatility will pay off although I like Paul Roo's player friendly approach.
