News Manager Peter Sidwell says Mick Malthouse not finished

Malthouse has won premierships, Eade hasnt. Malthouse sides make grand finals once every 3 and a bit years Eade has made one over 15 odd years.

We have stepped backwards, you might not like these facts but there facts sk get over it.

Also Mick is overbearing but your telling me Buckley isn't? Buckleys team mates didn't want to talk him when he first became captain because he didn't listen to them.

If Buckley goes sour you, and the rest of the anti Mick will be the first to sink the boots in.

Anyway losing malthouse and gaining Eade is a step backwards not forwards, if Buckley didn't want Mick and Mick wanted to leave he should've gone alone ala scott.

Whatever bring on 2012, our side is still strong

I belong in neither camps, not a Mick hater nor anti Buckley. I support CFC in the decisions they make.

For the record Mick v Eddie media war is getting a bit distasteful. Eddie says he is cooked, Mick says he is not.
Collingwood tried to have their cake and eat it too. Well, guess what reality bit hard and we may have shot ourselves with all these distractions.

I think to say we have gone backwards by getting Eade is a bit premature & naive. Tell me something when did you first heard the term director of coaching?
I only heard it when the whole Mick & Buckley saga started. To me it was created to appease Mick and secure Bucks.

Exactly

McGuire also revealed this morning Malthouse had considered quitting during the 2009 season.

"Mick came to me through the course of the season three years ago and said 'I don’t know if I can go on, I’m really struggling' and he had some issues and all the rest of it," McGuire said.

"So I went to his manager Peter Sidwell and said 'look, why don’t we start thinking about the end and how you want to do this'.

"And I said 'how long would you like to go' and they came back to me and said 'two years'.

"So I said 'right, OK, here’s what I’d like to do then. I’d like to put in place a succession plan, I’d like to get Nathan Buckley to come in and do this. Are we all on top of this?' "

The problems only arose when Mick realised how good our list was and was angry about not being able to achieve status of a legendary coach.
Which is disgusting.

Malthouse didn't want the job, Eade did. Don't make excuses Opti, Mick knew exactly what he was signing in 2009, if he didn't like it he had the option of quitting then and there. The club has bent over backwards to try and create a role Mick would be comfortable with, he's snubbed everything they've thrown up. He wanted to be head coach and head coach only and never had any intention of taking the job he signed on for.

I refuse to believe that Buckley would allow Eade a place in the coaching box but refuse Malthouse, it makes no sense to me so I can only assume the same deal was offered to Mick and he refused out of pride. Whatever, we'll get on fine without him.

So you are saying the Media was Right by Saying this Consession plan cost us the Flag?

What? How did I say that? It won us a flag. The problem is, the real reason we won was moved into the opposition analysis position.

Luckily, he's now head coach.

Eade is allowed in the box and to work tactically, Mick wasn't offered anything like that.

It's a cop out to offer eade a box role, but mick a completely ceremonial shit truck of a job.

But whatever bring on 2012, not impressed with the new acquisition in eade but we move on i suppose the vocal minority has to win sometimes

I agree with you Opti. Trying to move on (though it's tough).

I agree mate

MM was given 2 years notice... Eddie put MM and Bucks into this position. MM did all he could in my eyes and I for one would not have stayed on if those were my conditions.

I have never heard so much praise for an untried coach and so much ridicule for a proven coach.

Good luck MM

Good luck Buckley

Eddie... well my opinion of him has turned around 100% overnight and never before in my near 50 years supporting the Pies have I felt ill towards a President.

I've said this before and for the last time...stop listening to the media hype around Eddie and Bucks. Yes. Eddie is the spokesman for the club as President but we are a multi million dollar company. To say Eddie appointed Bucks is naive at best. We have a talented board of directors and administration.

Eddie runs his own successful enterprises outside of Collingwood. He would consult with Gary Pert and others in relation to Board decisions. The board of directors is responsible for major decisions such as the coach. If the appointed board of the football club makes a decision to change coach with all the facts at their disposal then I support them.

The media hates Collingwood. Don't get sucked in by Caro or Sheahan saying "Eddie wanted Bucks so Micks days were numbered". We would be friggin bankrupt if thats how decisions are made.

Now the same administration is building a new football department. With the success they have had recently they deserve respect and credit. MM was not single handly responsible for our success as he seemed to suggest over the weekend. He was a cog in the wheel. A great one at that. However, for reasons known to the board they wanted a change.

Furthermore, Eade has not taken on the role offered to Mick. It is a different role. He is not director of coaching. He has been a senior coach in the system for many years. He has intimate knowledge of the opposition and their recent game plans. Bucks has been the assistant responsible for the opposition this year. Not to mention lets start fresh with assistants who have played or coached against us.

It's easy to have a crack at us..maybe Tony Shaw spoke to Mick and said your'e in the media now.

Side by Side guys!

A la Mick on Mark Neeld, we wish him good luck, but that chapter is over now.

Good luck to Mick as a great servant, but our new era starts now and fresh. Micks future is out of our hands.

Nice (open) shit sandwich. It's over now so let it go or become one of the posters you used to pillory over the same question of loyalty.

I think that solidarity is everything when it comes to footy clubs. There is going to be large divisions between eddie and mick and bucks now that the marriage is ended.....no communication, no love i'm sure we've heard it before if we've had relationship breakups and that's what we got today.

but Mick is never going to coach the Pies in the future. We support the new team 100% and give it every chance.
