Seeing the footage of the little boy crying in the stands made my angry and sad!
This year our expectation was led by the coach, board and media and it was to play final. And our expectation should have been to play finals!.
This is clearly a pipe dream now and the club now has to be honest with us all.
The club along with Terry must come out and say to us all that we encourage all supporters to attend all games as you will be seeing alot of kids and new faces in the team.
We may not win every game but as a Footy Club we need to see who is going to be part of a successful footy side going forward.
This does a few things;
When we drive to the ground which can take 3 hours to get there and then another 3 hours back (like me last night) the expectation of winning is gone however u will go there to see how Vickery Post Gouridis Thomson Rance Jack Cotchin etc play.
I am not going to waste my time this year to go and watch jokes like Simmons etc etc
The pressure goes off the players and they will play with more flair etc the media will not be on our back coz we have 6 players over 30 and we are second last on the ladder.
BUT MORE IMPORTANTLY
the perspective coach needs to see if there is something there to work with, you need to make the coaching job attractive.
The current list management need to see the list against senior afl players.
There are so many positives by adopting this approach, every player that plays seniors is playing like its their job interview.
I don’t know about you guys but I like going to the footy and seeing Nahas Collins Cotchin etc
If we can play more kids and they show promise then the will take the sting of the loss and it will also get games into the kids. If we win games with the kids how much more enjoyable will it be.
Just like the Kangaroos on the weekend.
