n a new feature to collingwoodfc.com.au, “Stat Attack” will feature an in-depth look into the recently played Collingwood match.

After a resounding 62 point win against West Coast at Subiaco Oval on Saturday 7 February, Collingwood’s statistics were as equally as impressive as the final margin.

The Magpies dominated in almost every single key statistically category.

Collingwood used the ball 120 times more often than its opponent to account for 410 total disposals.

Scott Pendlebury and Tarkyn Lockyer led the way for the Magpies with 31 possessions each. Pendlebury was outstanding in his use of the ball delivering it with a disposal efficiency percentage of 94%.

On marks

Cameron Wood and Nick Maxwell were strong in the air, each tallying three contested marks for the game. The team finished the match with 13 total contested marks compared to West Coast’s single contribution by Darren Glass.

On handballs

After averaging a 2:1 ratio from kicks to handballs last season, Collingwood tallied 219 kicks to 191 handballs. The handball total on Saturday was not reached by the team in the 2008 season.

Pendlebury delivered 15 handballs at 100% efficiency.

On scoring

The Magpies were 100% accurate between 0 to 15 metres, kicking six goals from six attempts. From distances outside 50 metres, the team kicked one goal from six attempts.

The Magpies were dangerous during the 5 – 10 minute span of the quarters kicking four goals and four behinds. They also started the quarters strongly scoring 3.3 in the first five minutes.

Like this new articles they will be doing. Good to Hear wood took 3 contested marks.

Story Here

An important stat was Leon's 7 centre clearances. 3 more than our next best in O'Bree. Leon is a big player for us in the guts in 2009. Priddis lead the way for the Eagles with 6.

Yeah but O'Bree was apparently at 85% efficiency compared with Leon's 47%. And Leon had 7 clangers.

I am just going to go ahead and assume that they got Leon and OB's stats the wrong way round :D

It was a terrific performance by Collingwood.

I particularly liked there movement of the ball from the half back line.

Young Ben Reid was good in the back half I hope they continue to play him there, could be good value for a dream team slot.

Leon Davis I think will end up All Australian if he stays injury free.

My memory of the game is rapidly diminishing, like my brain cells and unlike my tum-tum, but I thought Leon was pretty crisp. Took one great steal - the man has to stay there in season proper.

Must have erased Leon's clangers from my mind or not noticed them. Mind you, context is everything. If you are sold into trouble yourself by a badly judged pass, you are more likely to rush your disposal and drop efficiency.

I'm on strike today, so if anyone has a devilishly fiendish way to view the game online, can you let me know.
