I don’t think he wants to be a run with player moving forward though he has stated in interviews, it was good for his development, but he wants to be a genuine mid moving forward
I don't think we would use him as a tagger, more a Rowbottom type to work with our more damaging mids.

Not suggesting he would be a run with player for us but more a defensive, two-way running mid.

agree especially if they are chasing Cam McKenzie - one mid out one mid in.
Can’t help but be impressed by what the Saints are pulling off here

Signed Naz
Bring In TDK
Take their pick of Aleer/SOS
Leading the team and for Liam Ryan
Strong talk on McKenzie.

Plus King to come back next year and a young group.

Fair effort well played Saints.

Saw something interesting reported a few days ago, which was that Ross has a system, or way of viewing his group, where in his eyes you’re either a ā€œstarā€, a ā€œfuture starā€, or a ā€œsoldierā€, and you’ll get paid accordingly, and it seems pretty likely from all this that he sees Windy as being in the ā€œsoldierā€ category, hence not being keen to pay up for him.

The Saints use certain analytics to decide the "worth" of players on the list. They look at the numbers and make sure the output matches the salary. Seems like Windy/his manager believe he is worth more than the club thinks his worth.

I love the bloke's attitude, but he isn't on the same level of talent as a Phillipou, Tauru, Wilson etc. He is heart and soul, but I can see why they don't want to pay him potentially $750-800k over four years.

What analytics gave them 1.7 a year for TDK?

Be that as it may, he's 22 years old, he's versatile, and he played midfield in about 50% of all his club's gametime this year.

So while its understandable that the Saints don't want to pay him a fortune, the offer of two years seems like deliberate lowballing to me.

Isn't it GWS that is most into Windhager? Surely close enough to a straight swap for Aleer, given you are both probably offering the incoming player a far bigger contract than the outgoing one. Neither team could ask for more.
GWS doesn't have the cap space

Sign of a good culture and a well run club.

More a sign of massively overpaying
They have to overpay, at least to an extent. Same goes with many Victorian clubs competing with each other. Getting the actual player nomination can be hard.
