May as well give Port the 4 points... Margetts is in charge :(

Good teams win no matter what happens.......

We will be fine.

While sort of on the subject.. has anyone tried to find stats regarding individual umpires, free kicks f/a by team? Pretty easy to find stats on frees F/A, at home or away, but not by umpire.

I went hunting on a few occasions to see if the bias from certain umpires was merely my conception or if it was real... can't find anything.

There is no way in hell the AFL would let these stats get out into the public arena.

This a hundred times over! My long time saying is 'Good teams find a way to win despite the umpires'

Not really sure about that, look at the work of Margetts in the 3rd quarter of the ASADAdon game this year, he took it upon himself to get them back in the game.
Look at the North vs Port game in Tassie this year. Or the Saints vs Pies game last year (Margetts and Farmer special that one)
Of course there were many other factors at play in all those games that swung the result (hello Patrick Ryder you bastard), but the umpiring was one factor.

We need to be at least 3 goals better just to break even. That's what Margetts gives the other team. Every time.

Sounds alike a really good thing, moving on... all warm and fuzzy like.
Problem with that is, when you move on, nothing ever changes.

It's like all these people wandering around saying "People in glass houses shouldn't throw stones".
I'm wondering why the hell not? It's a really good way to prove that your house was designed really, really badly, and that you should probably build a better one.

I was always like - Who the hell lives in a glass house anyway? Are they a super intelligent humanoid plants capable of building the perfect environment that go around judging people?

Margetts is the exception. Get back to us after the game. If its a fair fight, I'll never mention umps again.

Purple Voice dug up some stats on Nicholls and Margetts before one of the derbys earlier this year. No idea where from. Here is the post:

I converted the numbers into frees per game to compare the two:

I'd like to know where Purple Voice dug up the stats from. Tried the @ thing but couldn't find their name. Season has been running for a while, so no idea how the numbers have changed since then.

EDIT: Don't know where the data came from, but now I look at it... those frees for each umpire seem a bit high. If they are for each individually then there'd probably be double or more that many frees in the game. (30-40+ for each side)

I think there have been at least one game this year where he was an impartial influence on the game.

The best umpired game this year was the Sydney V Freo game. I remember discussing it afterwards and hardly noticed the umpires and wasn't any contentious issues.
Umpires: Matt Stevic, Brett Rosebury, Heath Ryan.

All great, impartial umpires, unlike the commentary from Roosy that day...

Me too!

Shit, I was irate about the umpiring that game especially when Sydney got 9 free kicks in a row or some ridiculous figure like that.

Back on topic, I think we can agree that Margetts is filth but then again so is McBurney (thank **** he's retiring)
