It worked, finally. Second attempt on Rainbow Road. I now have all characters unlocked.

I’ll be shocked if it doesn’t win best soundtrack at game awards this year, just when I thought Mario Kart 8 was the pinnacle of music in a Mario Kart game this one overtakes it with ease. The remixes are insane and some of the new songs aswell have some oomph. Just a few I really like

Copped 3 blue shells in knock out tour playing against the CPU and I'm second for the last 2 stages and no blue shells whatsoever and I didn't even get close to catching up to first place.

First time playing when my blood started to boil.

Played a knock out tour where I was first for a while and eventually got the horn to use on the blue shell that eventually came.

Good to know you can get rewarded for being first sometimes

Agree with many things said, but the score just doesn't reflect it.

I can see a large subset that will dislike the changes but that doesn't make a 9/10 kart racer a 6.5, at least IMO.

Seems dirty the same publication would give AFL23 a 5 at release...

I can't speak for James but I think it was a combination of the empty open world and the price.

AFL23 now I'm copping strays. On launch I was bullish that it would be patched quickly, seems I was wrong on that one. I do think that when it worked it worked well. I think they've built on that in AFL26, which I am still working through for review with 10,000 other games

On the 64 it did. It was endless until you died or the computers did.

Fair enough, ultimately it is his opinion. Just find that kind of score a bit incongruous to the negatives listed.

I admit I don't know what his scale usually is, if he thinks MK8 is a 7/10 for example I suppose it makes sense.

Took me about 6 goes to get 1st on golden rally.

Got down to the last 4 each time then kept getting stooged on the last section of the last track.

I've lived long enough on this planet to realise the same people that don't like change are the same ones that would complain it they kept it the same as MK8.

What kept me going back to MK8 for many years was that you knew your stats for online racing.

Not sure I'll have the same commitment to online racing in MKW if they don't include it in an update.

Twisted Metal & Destruction Derby were last man standing ( Not quite knockout) but for mine Twisted Metal was so much fun growing up. Wish they would make another one now with the way graphics are and how many racers you could get onto the screen at once would be good fun I reckon.

Got my first win in online knockout tour, good to get that monkey off my back.

Surely we will get new Rallies in the future as having the same 8 might start to get a bit stale playing them over and over.

24 racers is too many imo it can get very hard to get out of 10-24. Wouldn't mind if they put an option where you can change how many racers you want 12 like MK8 or 24.

Agree about Knockout great addition I enjoy that mode way more.

Not having issues with them having 24 racers.

They did it to accommodate the open world driving they wanted to incorporate.

I played plenty of MK8 before the Switch 2 was released and found sometimes there was to much space on the tracks where you'd be looking at the map at what's behind you too many times instead of you just looking ahead and actually racing.

Haven't had a chance to finish all the GP's yet, but so far the driving from one race to the next is pretty lame imo. Takes the personality away from the actual courses.
