Mark Bilcavs is facing a hard decision whether to accept Geelong offer him 3 year deal for a $1 million for that period where as the Western Bulldogs have offered him 5 year deal for $3 million for that period .What do you guy think does he take Geelong offer or Bulldog one ?

I think he will take the Geelong offer. I'm told he is a high quality individual, who is very grateful for the opportunity given to him from Geelong.

I think Geelong will pay him more than that. I must say his rate of improvement has been astounding this year. Very high impact player who could be anything, just have to watch the game against collingwood with pendlebury struggling to contain him. A guy so tall who runs the fastest 3km in the league, who is fairly strong makes him so different to any other midfielder. I have no idea how any team, could please Geelong with a trade as he is so unique

I think he should take the Geelong offer but the life off a footballer is short there lies problem .

I'm sure Geelong would bump up there offer if he didn't accept.

I get that Geelong have other things going on with their cap, but surely they bump up that offer.

$1 million for 3 years - $333 333 a season.

$3 million for 5 years - $600 000 a season.

He would be insane to take the Geelong offer.

It is irrelevant however, Geelong will up their offer surely.

Next the Dogs will be getting linked to going after Jake Kolodjashnij. Going after a lot of taller Geelong players it seems (Hamling, Longergan etc.).

Personally I'd like to be linked with Josh Walker myself.

You club has drop the ball on Mark Bilcavs offer $1.2 millions to Dangerfield who can't kick miss target quiet bit and not rewarding the younger player like the foremention

Don't think it's dropping the ball whatsoever. If Blicavs was a money hungry mercenary then perhaps that'd be the case, but he's clearly not.

The club will have to fit in Dangerfield and probably Henderson and Scott Selwood into our salary cap. That won't be possible if we paid Blicavs and Stevie Motlop $600K a season each.

Blicavs and his father have clearly said they want to stay at Geelong and money is not a factor. The Age article from last week is a very good read BTW.

I'm not surprised other clubs are after Blicavs though because he's argubly turned into our best midfielder now.

Would be insane to take the Geelong offer. He is entering the big negotiation time frame. If Geelong are going to lowball him in his prime - they will be as disrespectful in his later years.

Will absolutely sign with Geelong, the amount of improvement he's shown over there and their faith in developing him won't go unnoticed in negotiations. Would be a wasted signing by the Bulldogs anyways, if they want an athletic ruckman Luey could be had on the cheap

The Geelong have not signed Tom Hawkins yet either guys ?

His mother DIED.

Negotiations were put on hold before, during and after her passing. Give me a break.

The debate is about Bilcavs verus Henderson .i a very short time that Bilcavs being playing football his done more then Henderson has being in the Afl system since 2008 he does not warrant being paid $500 thousand dollar a year .I would paying Bilcavs more money then Henderson .The thing is Bilcavs will continue improve at rapid rate .

"To me whether he signs now for one, two, three or five years is immaterial. I think at the end of Mark's career I would find it highly unlikely he would be anywhere other than Geelong," Andy Blicavs said.

"If Mark's motivation is to make the most money he can get out of football and set himself up for life then he would not sign and he would go on the open market, but that is not his motivation. His motivation is he is in a good environment, he likes the team and the club has been good to him.

"Mark could hawk himself around in the market place and some clubs might offer him over the odds based on potential. Do you want to be the highly paid player in a lowly team paid highly on potential and expected to perform?

Fair bit of spit balling here.

Three years ago he was struggling for money to buy sneakers. Geelong thru Guthire's dad offered him a chance to train and go for his Olympic dream while Footy helped with his financial needs. Go for it .. and if you make it... great... we will rip up the contract... but if you don't you have an option. That option now sees him having a chance to set himself up and earn some good coin. Thru his work and Geelong's help he has now developed into unique football and is getting better.

So far , the noises his father has made, the Mark has made , is the a very thankful for the chances that he has been given. That rate Loyalty..and remember what Geelong did for him.

Three years ago would he have dreamed to be choosing between 350 and 600 a year? Id say Geelong will say 2*350 , we'd like you to take this but if you improve beyond the current rate , win B&F's or what ever we can sit down and look at it again... then in 2 years time with 100+ games under your belt , we can start looking at Tier One payments if thats been earned.

Time will tell if the talk is worth anything at all.

Letting him go chase the Olympic dream for 6 months, paying him while doing it ( rookie minimums but still ok money) has clearly been good thing. Again I think it shows GFC putting the player before the club. We also asked him to remain a rookie in his 3rd year when we were pushing for list spots and he agreed. It goes both ways.

IMO, he is very happy where he is and the deal will get done. Might be a little higher than GFC started with but thats just good work by the Doggies to get us to spend more $$. End result, IMO, will still be the same.
