Thanks Mark, you did a great job, what was required and some of your courage will hopefully be an example to the younger Tigers in years to come.
all the best

so you think that a sarge wouldnt stand the rigours of a game on Brown?
If so, then how come he stood up to the rigours of a Michael and kicked 6?
I have a feeling that all our taller youngsters are going to play heaps of games at Coburg and then fade into obscurity.
If a Thursfield can be given that kind of kudos by TW after a minute at the tigers, it doesnt look good for the others.
My thoughts on Schulz is that he his a huge talent, but may be taking things a little to easily. Resting on the laurels of his 6 against the Lions. Hence Wallace has said, right, let's make this guy really earn his spot. Once he get's to the one's he'll appreciate it a bit more and hence play that way.

Lets look at things here.

Graham baring almost brownlow performance was not going to be asked to play on next year IMO. With Cambell I also think the decision was know long ago and both he and Wallace were going through the motions just for the press.

Schultz was going to be a permanit backmen then he got injured and di a little thing like lose the clubs biggest sponser. grahem has done more than what has been asked and allowed younger bodies to develop and you could only assume work of the field as well.

Remeber coaches see the players away form the game and can gauge there desire and commitment to play at the top level as well. Thursfiel was a perfect match up for O'Loughlain and has played well beyond that as well.

Wallace had to go for some success this year because the club is screaming out for it. It'n no good for the mature and 2-4 year players to lose game they want to be part of a winning club an it's also no good for first years either.

I would rather have guys like Pettifer, Hyde etc get a taste for winning and a desire to play top games of footy at the club and to want to be a finals success. Than have a top draft pick who may come good.

I think that will certainly happen if they can't dominate a game at that level.

If not, I'm sure you'll see them playing in the ones.

If Schulz wasn't injured in the pre season, he probably would have played on Jonathon Brown. Plus, Schulz is hardly some 17-18 year old kid, as mentioned by IDGAF before.

yeah i guess so, but Richo was a 17-18 year old KPP when he hit the scene and from day one you knew, now keep on waiting and when you find a KPP that needs to be nurtured and hand held and all that, you will have in about 4 years a servicable player, rather than a match winnng KPP that you kind of need to win the big ones.

Also something that SEALen likes to eat.

a small parasitic catfish native to bigfooty, that typically feeds off the blood of other fish. However is attracted to urine and has been known to swim up the vagina/penis/anus of others sharing its view on the Richmond Board. Once inside a human host it extends spines on its back lodging it firmly in place where removal is possible through extremly painful surgery, amputation of the organ or the use of herbal medicines that can dissolve the parasite.

I dont disagree that schulz should have gotten more game time, but I am thinking that in between injury, drink driving or whatever, something there is an acceptable reason as to why he is being held back

thinking or hoping?
me thinks this way, if he were the ants pants of KPPs then TW's hand would have surely been forced to play him in the ones, this year.
But in his defence, sarge has the "get out of jail free" card still, in that the "interrupted pre-season" excuse still has currency for him.
What i cant understand is why he is playing so many games at Coburg, when blind freddy can see we need an alternative big man to help out Richo in the FL, and this guy kicked 6 against the biggest gorrillas this decade?
The first ankle injury he suffered early on, was a bad one, but he got back to playing and then, and I qualify this by saying, it was reported, the second was a sprain of the other ankle, which to my reckoning doesnt derail a season.
I have talked about sarge to my tiger mates at nauseam, and although I cant see what all the hoohaa is about, when some say, gun etc, he does do one thing that we badly need, kick the bloody thing straight.
Its time to make Richo the bit player, and someone else to take the game by the scruff of the neck. Once we get that in place, with Richo chiming in with his 3-4 or 2 each week as the bonus to our new go to man, we will start to see the required results, until then, I will say this much, we can never go forward relying on just a Richo every week.
You saw that first hand with the inclusion of Brownie, class act, taking the lions share of the action, with Richo chiming in with his usual stats.

I just dont get the deal with sarge, and all we can hope is that its TW's way to drum into him comitment to his career, if not then he is toast, and another 4 years has been wasted on "hope" rather than spending 2 years polishing naturally gifted players and producing class acts, instaed of just another player.

You're right. More like hoping. Its coming to the stage where we are thinking "What the?"

Hope and Supporting the Tigers go hand in hand though.

just in case you havent noticed, I have a sneaky feeling we are seeing the doggies under TW reincarnated, which aint a bad thing, but like he did there, he filled the place up with classy, skilled, mid size players, to compliment the taller been there done that players that he had, and with the light at the end of the tunnel getting brighter and brighter, in that, he had the deliverers, but now needed the target men, the ********e hit the fan and he left. Why? i dont know, but my theory is and its purely a theory, that he was going to take the Saints model, that at the time would have been his invention, get the all the mid-size, on ball class from the draft, then go out and get the target men with bucks. Look at who is in the Saints spine then see where they are and then see what happens when you arent flexible in your recruiting policies like the cats and dees.
IMO, if TW goes for total youth policy, it will take to long to build the side into a finals winning side. He has to hit the market, see who is available, hopefully capitalise on coaches that are deemed to be guns, but in reality are the opposite, like bomber, daniher and malthouse. They will be looking at their lists for excuses to their demise.
TW has to pinpoint the good ones that are made scape goats and pounce on the KPPs which invariably are the ones that are scrutinised first.

I couldn't have been more happier with the Graham 'experiment'.

he was pivotal in the Sydney win, almost got us over the line against Port and was a massive factor in the Brisbane victory.

even better, he allowed Darren Gaspar to settle back into AA form and the lessons learnt by Will Thursfield, Brent Hartigan and Chris Newman are going to be priceless.

well done Mark. you certainly weren't a Tiger for life, but you've earnt my respect.

Was pretty pessimistic when i found out we drafted him but he did put in a serviceable year. I hope we humiliate his old side and send him out in style.
