MD: What can be realistically expected of Michael Barlow?
MH: A lot of people will tell you that after this type of injury you don’t necessarily see the best of them in year one, like with a knee reconstruction. But this guy is so intelligent with the game and how to expose the game that it wouldn’t surprise me to see him get somewhere near what he was, straight away

This :thumbsu:

Is this optimism at its best or is Harvs saying something the fans just want to hear?

I'd honestly say it's a bit of both Seppo

From what I've seen Barlow just looks rusty - he always moved awkwardly so him bobbing about would be normal

Knew he'd say he isn't too concerned about players missing

The bye falls at just the right time for us as we can really start clicking in to gear from then on and *hopefully* have 2-3 wins on the board for the first 5 games easing players back in to the team

Would much rather us ease in to the season and finish with an almighty unstoppable streak, rather than start with a bang and fade towards the end of the season

With a few players still nursing old wounds it would be a good idea to leave them out until they are ready, rather than rush them back in when they are ready

Still think we're a good chance for top 4 if we take the necessary precautions and try to not burn our kids out by the middle of the season :)

Great Read. Damn I'm glad we got Harvey.

I don't see it as much of a negative having to play more depth players at the start of the season. It will allow our better players more endurance for the latter half of the season.

This is the second time i have read the article. I didnt pickup last time that barlow could come back in round 4 even if it is in the WAFL.

That is great news, what a pity i will see matches in round 2 and 3 :(

MD: Are we looking at round four or later for his return?

MH: Possibly. Now it is about him ramping up his training and running. The concern now would be soft tissue in and around the area, not the injury itself. If he has a hiccup with that, that will put him back a couple of weeks. We would like to think we would manage that quite well
