Mark Jamar - DOB 9/8/1983, 198cm, 97kg from North Adelaide (SANFL)
Touted as high as a first round pick in the National Draft by some casual draft pundits, Jamar is a ruckman with SANFL experience who fills Melbourne's desperate need for backup rucks in the case of injury to Jeff White, Darren Jolly or both (touch wood!). Probably similar to the selection of Jolly last year because he's got the body to at least compete at AFL level, unlike Tom Marshall, Melbourne's only rookie to stay on from 2001, who is currently too thin to help out if injury strikes.
Part of the last training report on Demonology...
Last time I made mention of the strength and size of the up and coming players. Today I had the chance to get a good look at Mark 'Camel' Jamar. How this kid was overlooked in the National Draft and pre-season draft simply defies explanation. There is simply no way that there are 80+ players considered to be better than him. The kid looks and moves like a young Carey, despite being only 17. What an absolute steal he shall be, and it shouldn’t be too long before he hits senior ranks

ok i said this on demonology and ill say it here. I dont like the Carey comparison. i mean seriously it just isnt suitable. Ive seen him play and i wouldnt compare him to Carey. that isnt right.

I agree with you.
Firstly comparing a new kid to someone as big as Carey is simply unfair in terms of pressure, its not fair on him.
Secondly I don't want a Carey at my club!

I agree 100%.
Comparing a 19yr old who is yet to play a senior game and was disregarded in the latest draft to arguably the best player ever is stupid. Theyre obviously just trying to win over supporters. But, all it will do is disappoint when/if he turns out to be another Brent Grgic.
