Sometimes he sounds a bit like the guy with the plum in his mouth but his cricket knowledge is excellent and he's smooth and polished. I'd have him ahead of many other on the commentary team.

Anyway some other countries have 'interlopers' in their coverage. I notice Ian Bishop does the interviews with the captains at the toss in SA. I like the diversity Nicholas provides.

Totally agree, the guy is slick, professional, knowledgable and very good at what he does.

Did an excellent job hosting the AB medal the other night, and the Shane Warne special before the Sydney test.

Hope we see him anchoring the cricket coverage for many years to come.

I agree. I have found Mark Nicholas to be an excellent anchor for the cricket and i hope they continue with him for a long while yet. You cant expect any of the others on the commentary team to do the job surely. There are only 3 commentators i like on 9 - Mark Nicholas,Richie Benaud and of course Bill - the others are hopeless.

I agree with this. One of the only sports anchors who seems quite at ease in those off-the-cuff filling-in-time moments that you get during a live telecast.

His work during rain delays, etc. is very good.

And yet, when the cricket is on in England, we whinge about having to listen to pommy commentators. Cannot have it both ways.

Nicholas is a f***ing suck up, he's like Peter Roebuck starts speaking bloody Australian to ingratiate themesleves with the natives, obviously in the belief that plummy voiced poms might not go down too well, not understanding that's it's not plummy voicedness that ruffles feathers but more of a certain attitude.

To hear Nicholas using terms such as 'you beauty' & 'what a ripper' is nauseating in it's obvious falseness.

When he was the anchor on the English cricket he alsmost singlehandedly ruined it for me, a completely self obsessed, areslicker who if you actualy listen to his summaries has little understanding of the game.Yeah he may be smooth but that's it, he'd be better off anchoring breakfast telly.

Roebuck is even worse, he was one of the most plummy voiced repressed English boarding school types you could ever meet, heard him on the radio yesterday, blody hell, he's got an Aussie accent, he uses terms like 'blokes', gives the score the wrong way round (1/70) & uses the term 'Englishman' as if he's got a bit of sh*t attatched to his shoe.

A pair or pricks both of them.

Nicholas is an excellent anchor and he can do one thing many of the others can't do, speak well not only on camera but also public speaking. If yousaw the AB medal he was the only member of the commentry team who wasn't quivering when they got up on stage to speak.

I actually don't mind Mark Nicholas, and both teams seem to like him. Somebody had to replace Richie Benaud, and Nicholas is as good as anyone.

I actually like him, calm, cool, professional. At least he's not like the other buffoons in the commentary box (Simon O'Donnel, Lawry) and he calls it as he sees it. Supports England yet is willing to give Australia credit when credit's due. Has a massive man-crush for Ed Joyce but I suppose he can't be perfect.

Love it when Nicholas calls when someone's given out LBW. I say keep him, he's certinally better than Taylor, our ex-pat Dean Jones and Slater and he's on par or even better than Chappel and Richie. It seems that the people who don't like him simply do so for a bit of pommy-bashing. Take away the fact he's English (dear god, can't have that can we ) and there is nothing wrong with him.
