Until now, I have been of the opinion that Bomber is a pretty good young coach with plans to take our club into the finals, but today against the Bulldogs, he lost me.
Why would you not play Peter Street, (a guy who's 208cm and been on our list 5 years) in the ruck all the time?? We already know Cameron Mooney can pinch hit in the ruck, so what was to gain by having Mooney in the ruck and Street sitting on the pine??
Why doesn't Bomber ever change the forward line structure when it's not working during a game?? Kingsley was not getting a kick today, yet he stayed on the ground and what's worse, he remained one of our key targets up forward. Why not put Mooney at full forward, or even Ben Graham, just to change things around a bit and give the opposition something else to think about??
Why wouldn't you give Henry Playfair time on the ground when he eventually makes his debut for the club??
It seems to me as if Mark Thompson is coaching for his future at Geelong, trying to win games without learning anything new. If Kevin Sheedy was in a similar position, you can bet your life he'd be learning whether or not every player on his list can handle playing in the AFL.
Do we really know if Peter Street, Paul Chambers, Henry Playfair, Matthew McCarthy, James Bartel, Will Slade, David Johnson, etc etc. are good enough to remain at our club, or will we be guessing based on their limited opportunity in the seniors??
What does everyone else think of Bomber as a coach?? Is he gone, or has he done enough to justify our club keeping him on as coach??
