I have been doing martial arts since I was 10 and am now 19. I am slowly moving up and hope to continue it even with uni beginning next year.

Has anyone else done this for ages like me? I love it and anyone bagging it can get lost.

Yeah I've been doing Taekwondo since for around 5 years nearly now.

Karate for me. Mates have made it into the state selections etc but not me.

Cool.

I have national selections for the Australian Team going to Germany next year in Jan. I love competing. Been taking a break lately just Instructing and stuff. Finally getting back into the competing arena again.

BJJ baby. I'm a strong follower of MMA, leagues such as PRIDE and UFC. I have a friend who accutally competes, he has taught me afew things in the art of BJJ. Comes good at times of need.

I did Karate from grade 3-year 8 so bout 6 years. I never really liked it a whole lot. I used to do one hour sessions twice a week on Mondays and Thursdays between 6-7 in the kids classes which were alright then i moved ot the adult classes with two longer sessions twice a week at 7:15-9. I found those classes quite boring. I didnt really talk to many of the people in that class as i was one of the older guys in the kids class and dint know any of them. It was no fun at all for me really. Plus 24, South Park and all my favourite shows were on Monday so i started only going once a week and if i missed a thursday lesson i wouldnt have karate for 2 weeks.

I quit a few years ago. I dont get into fights but if i do just mucking around, the karate taught me absolutely nothing. 6 years of worthlessness. I was a blue belt at that stage and only needed Brown, Brown w/Black stripe then i would be at Black belt but i didnt care. I did one lesson of Taekwondo and they played ball games and it was fun but by that stage i was over martial arts and quit.

Dude. It just looks like a bunch of men dry-humping each other on the floor. :)

You'd know all about that, wouldn't you Nic ;)

Anyway, you must be just watching UFC. Either way, the main objective is to physically strip your oppoenet of his health and then shake hands after woulds, love it. I was ******ed enough to even start up a mini fight club once and we use to ground and pound the sh*t out of each other, fun times.

Been undertaking Kendo (Japanese samurai swordsmanship) for quite some time now. Will quit next year.

One strike blow from my bamboo sword will have demoralizing effects. :)

I own a kendo sword somewhere. And by Odin they hurt when you cop one on the knuckles.

i did tai chi a few weeks ago... ;)

am a regular Tai Chi devotee

apart from Tai Chi

we also do stand forms, breathing and weapons including stick, long pole & sword

it may seem to be not as physical as other MA but if it is done right it is still as effective.

my 2c

:)

Smokin, he goes by the name of Jaime Ryder, do you know him? He is over-seas at the moment.

Word. :p

That's one of the main aims of the art of Kendo - targeting areas such as knuckles, elbows, kneecaps, neck, or even feet are vital to make your opponent stunned with pain; following by an opportunity to strike a body-blow.

I will start doing Brazillian Jiu Jitsu early next year when an instructior arrives from Japan to the local Kickboxing gym.

I am also a huge fan of MMA, Pride imparticular. UFC is ok but the cage can make it boring at times. Plus the standard of fighters in Pride is much higher.

Good to see another fan of PRIDE. I agree that UFC can be boring with the cage, but there is nothing like seeing abit of hardcore ground and pound. Forearms to the face, pure gold.

Started doing some boxing a couple of months ago more for the fitness benifits as part of my over all training than the fighting part of it. From that i started some Muay Thai training with a friend and plan on getting right into it when that same buddy gets back from OS in a couple of weeks.
