I didn't watch all of last nights game so don't know exactly what went down but I doubt it has anything to do with Blicavs' size and more his AFL skills. We have no idea how Cox will perform with an AFL football so they're not comparable.

Well it's highly likely Cox's skills are probably not going to be much better than Blicavs. What they do have in common is that they're both ruckman size and they haven't got a big footy background. As for not knowing Cox's skill, it makes him incomparable to every AFL player, but the closest comparison so far without the knowledge of Cox's skill would be Blicavs. Once Cox starts playing VFL then we'll have a better comparison for him.

Just on a negative note, seeing that the AFL is now taxing successful clubs. Is this program viable?

I would much rather cut this program(Sorry Mason,It's not personal!) than cutting expenditure on say a forward coach or a kicking coach for Travis, or a naturalist/spiritual liaison for Lamumba as examples.

Is it possible that this program and all costs could be used as a tax deduction, since it is an AFL initiative?

Does anyone else feel the same way?

Why do people think that he can play wing...? Just because he is fast for a 211 cm person...? He would get smashed on a wing.

If he makes it at all (and that is long odds) he will almost certainly be a ruckman, with a small chance he could become a third tall forward and pinch hit in the ruck. But either of those will be very long odds.

The Category B rookie system does not fall under either the salary cap, or footy department spending. As a result, we are not impacting our ability to pay other players, and Mason's salary will not contribute to being taxed either. There is literally zero downside to a cat B rookie if the club has the money to take the punt on the prospect.

We aren't hiring extra coaching staff for cat B rookies, so there is no impact on spending.
Whether he takes up more time of the coaching staff than other players is an entirely different discussion.
