These are some strange takes from you this time Yoda_

Having Roberts play well doesn't make the decision any better - it wasn't one or the other and all clubs can use more good players (of which Massimo is clearly one). Clearly would be a spot for both at Essendon.

It wasn't as though it took any development or fixing weaknesses either - he's been good from Day 1 at the Hawks.

Also, what does "business decision" even mean in this case? I get Hawthorn offered an extra year and Mass took security but that's exactly the problem - it's not as though he wanted out. It would have only taken minimum chips for a club nowhere near salary cap for a young player with obvious promise. You didn't want to offer a second year so gave him away for free (a pick neither club intended to use).

Not try to rub it in either - all clubs make mistakes - hell Hawthorn drafted Billy Hartung a couple of picks ahead of Zach Merrett once upon a time and as raised in this thread already, traded Tom Mitchell for Cooper Stephens (and a middling pick).
I mean you summed it up

im not denying we should have tried harder to keep him. Am simply stating the facts as I know it.

You are certainly right, some clubs make better decisions than others. Some clubs utilise players strengths better than others. We've probably got this one wrong and a fair chunk of the supporter base know it.

Facts are facts mate, welcome to check it out out yourself but in the top handful for the majority of major stats.

Im a big advocate for Champion Data ranking points as a guide to a players worth and Archie is leading all comers who have played more than 3 games.
Archie has played one less game as well

Stats are cool. There's not a chance he's leading the rising star race though. Wouldn't even be top 3 👍

edit. Also - Lalor and O'Sullivan have a higher player rating than Roberts. So do Reid and Langford to name a few 😉 Facts are indeed facts.....

thats ok, you do you

I've got an each way betting slip at $41 with a return of $410 on it
See my edit ^

Yeah and I've got one for Luke Trainor @ $67 for a $2000 collect. Unfortunately for both of us it's Ashcrofts to lose. O'sullivan and Lalor next in line. Then probably Langford and Murphy Reid. IMO of course...

We shall see.

Really does.
I didn't get the impression he was unhappy...?
He wasn’t happy, and he felt like he was never fully accepted within the playing group which has a bit of a clique.

Heard this directly from someone who interviewed him for a podcast, when he spoke off mic.

This aged well.

That was 3 games ago and I said at that time.

Shit flex 👍

He's had 6 of his last 7 games with over 25 disps, so if you dismissed him 3 weeks ago you weren't paying attention.

All good, the casuals and bookies are catching up.

Hes playing the easiest position on the ground. As I said, stats are great but don't tell the full story.

Ashcroft, Langford and Lalor would all ne ahead right now but Lalor is going to miss some footy so young and write him off now.

Hes a good player. Relax.

I think he actually should be leading it but I also think that other poster is carrying on like a pork chop lol

tracking to be a very good player. could end up better than Mass

We all over rate our own
I Don't mind Archie Roberts at half back, he can generate a lot of possessions. Maybe Archie becomes a midfielder rather than a wing down the track.

I rate Angus clarke and with his extra height and fitness, could become a real weapon on the wing for Essendon, obviously going quite early.

Even Saad El-Hawli if given the chance might offer something decent on a wing, has speed, athleticism, is a goal kicking mid, reasonable mark for his height.

VOSS added excitement and belief and would have got players up and about.
His addition to our list was more about team dynamic - create excitement like players such as Draper, Stringer, that we lack. Plus he could have been a enforcer and had players walk taller with him in the side.
Never missed a training session with us, probably only player in that 2 year period.

Move on it happens good for Mass and good for the Hawks

Doesn't just happen to us happens to every club not trying to start beef but Ned Long went from Hawks to the Pies
