Yet another Masten thread.

Where do you reckon he is at, at the moment?

I am a very big fan of the guy but he seems to be struggling. Looks a bit panicky and uncertain when he has the ball. He also looks to really struggle for acceleration. Maybe he is struggling with injury?

He was doing so well at the end of last year, what happened...?

Yer hes coming back from injury thats for sure. Doubt we will see his best again till next year.

He was very disappointing today he turned the ball over way to much by hand and foot.:thumbsd:

I am hoping that this was just an aberation, however I am starting to think he will be a good player eventually but for a # 3 pick he is never going to be all that special.

Having said that he played today like someone totally devoid of confidence. So maybe there are some issues that need to be resolved.

Sometimes he looks real good then other times he looks utter shite. Needs some consistent game time to find some form. And he definitely needs to hit the weights next preseason. Needs another 5+ kilos.

I continue to try and defend him and although he is being played out of position he continues to go to ground in contests and is pretty weak in contests, his tackling is poor and like many continues to look to give off to the first option which is usually not the best option.

As a number 3 pick you would have to be insane not to question his future...

OP has seriously hampered him, he has lost his acceleration and has no strength through the hips. Was limping a bit today, hopefully he still doesn't have groin issues, would hate to see him get destroyed by it to the extent that say a Butler did.

I agree, have a look at the poise and decision making of shepherd compared to Masten there is a big difference.
I hope Masten can come good but I don't think the signs are good.

Watching on TV he seemed quite good to me. Offering some zip around the packs which is lacking when he doesn't play. Made a mistake or two but who didn't? I think he is often judged too harshly.

He's 2 full preseasons away from being a very good player imo. At his peak will be a very similar style of player as marc murphy imo.

Respect your opinion and all but murphy imo is and will always be a much much better player then masten. murphy is an imposing player with better skills, a bigger build, faster, can run and carry and can kick goals.

Masten just doesnt seem to have any natural ability in front of the sticks.

It was f**king me off how some West Coast fans nearby me we're abusing him as if he was on the other team.

We shall have to wait and see. We are a rabble so it's hard to know where he sits in the scheme of things.

Needs to bulk up some more and needs to moved into the middle, otherwise he could find himself on the outer.

Did we draft him with PO. There is an arguement that this is as agood as he ill get.

From what I hear his own opinion of himself is very high. he looks like he doesnt think he needs to improve and work hard, he isnt working on strength (upper body strength come on ok even with OP). He is slow and his decision making is very poor. he is a turn over king at the moment.

he lacks agression, pure skill, judgement and doesnt read the play. he lacks the football brain to be effective up foward

the biggest strength people can find is he hasnt broken a leg.

On form how could you tell.

he looks the worst no 3 of the modern era. This is a massive setback for a rebuilding team as you dont get many no 3's.

Not happy with Masten to be blunt.

Just seems to be lost out there.

Had more bad kicks then good kicks and oh my you heard the crowd moan when ever he turned it over.

At this stage, waste of a #3 pick.
