Just watching him One Week At A time, super impressive. I dont want to revisit him coming home, (although I would love to see him in a Crows guernsey) but being an amazing player, fantastic captain I wonder how good he would be a coach in the future. Perhaps we missed the boat at getting him home as a player, but I would be more than happy to have him as a forward coach, or any coach for that matter...thoughts....

great, another old player who we will pay over the odds for who won't be as good as what he was at his original club

no thanks.

the OP was suggesting employing him as a future coach...

must read OP and not assume :o

I was suggesting more along the line of a coach, of course I would love to see him also play a season or two before hand but not only if we dont have to sell the stadium to get him....perhaps another deal like the McLeod one would be nice;)

He recently got his Commerce degree, has some business interests in Perth and is dating a WA girl...

There's a good chance he might not even come back to footy once he retires, let alone Adelaide!

About the only thing that could draw him back to Adelaide would be his roots (family ties).

To be honest i hope he stays with Freo until the end of his playing career.

he's clearly rooting in WA now!

2007 was the chance to get him back, he's now in the too old category as far as a player goes, but i'd take him in a heartbeat as a coach

He wont be going no where ,5years ago maybe but the team is just starting to fire and look like being top 4 for a few years.Hes done all the hard yards with them cant see him leaving when the Dockers are on a crest of a big wave.

Besides what on earth could we offer Freo in return

Yeah he could be playing coach in 2011. Play for Fremantle and coach Adelaide.

Why drag a freemantle player here or even wonder about his coaching potential when you have ex players like Tyson, Goody. Roo, Bicks and Ben Hart to name a few who should step into the job and perform just as well.

Looks like he won't re-sign until the end of the year. Very unlikely that'd he'd leave at this stage, but I find it interesting that whilst his team is going bang at 8-2 and he is still in career-best form that he'd put off a new contract.

He has left his contract until after the season almost every time. He signed on earlier for his last contract only because there was so much commotion over Connolly.

We need 'new blood' mate. (not that I'm gunning for pavlich to coach us - not even worth thinking about at the moment is it?!?!)

I'm sick of the old boys club - as CS's transcript indicated we are running a Super fund atm down at the club!

new ideas - new people - let's shake it up a bit!

Be incredibly suprised if Eddy did under current management.. ;)

Hart did;)

Whats the bet at least one of Edwards, Goodwin, or Macca will get an assistant job? Hart and Clarke, Bickley are already too many.

Of those three I'd say Goody would be the most likely, I think Craig has previoiusly singled him out for coaching potential and tends to come across as the kind of guy who could make a good coach. I wouldn't be surprised at all if he's on our coaching panel next year or so, Basset would be another who we might look to quickly snap up. Wouldn't surprise also if we had a bit of a clean out of our assistants to allow this.

I remember reading an article by Basset saying he played with Pavlich in a state game. Pavlich's speech to the group before the game was disappointing compared to some others who also spoke. Basset suspected that his development had been stymied by the quality of the coaches he had played under.

I didn't see the show and although it would be hard to judge a person on one pre-game talk, it is a reminder that sometimes a good player does not make a good coach.

We pay these guys big money why do we have to give them jobs when finished.
You cannott tell me Bickley, Hart and Clark are the best ass. coaches out there , certainly dont want anymore or yes men as thats why we stumbled into the disaster that was this season.
Pavlich is a quality person but ass. coach who the hell knows
