For a few years now I've always thought that Matt Bowen's eventual position would be halfback ... much like everyone often speculated on a move to five-eighth for Lockyer. Anyone else think that's a chance? I could see the Cowboys playing Thurston and Bowen in the halves with Ty Williams at fullback.

Brenton Bowen (Matt's cousin) is not a bad winger.

I believe Matt is too quiet on the field to be a half-back. He goes well at full-back where he can use his speed. Let's see how Firman goes this year.

BTW I think he would prefer 5/8 rather than half.

Bowen is awesome from dummy-half, so depending on whether he could baulk up a little more - he'd be a fab hooker.
he's not a strong enough defender to play hooker.
five-eighth would be a better position for him, with thurston at halfback.

I wouldn't be moving him from where he is now, as it sure as hell ain't broke. The role he plays at full-back, running through dummy-half has been super effective and whilst he possibly could move into the halves, I don't really see the point. I think Firman and Thurstans should be able to form a formidable combination in the halves anyway. 1 - Bowen 2 - Williams 3 - Hannay 4 - Bowman 5 - Sing 6 - Thurstans 7 - Firman That is an awesome backline. Easily the best in the NRL.

i reckon:

1. Hornby
2. Best
3. Gasnier
4. Cooper
5. Naiqama
6. Barrett
7. Head

is the best backline in the nrl atm.

Bowen > Hornby
Williams > Best
Hannay < Gasnier
Bowman < Cooper
Sing > Naiqama
Thurstans > Barrett
Firman < Head

I reckon the Cowboys are better in 4 of those comparisons and some of them by a fair way too. There isn't a lot between them in the halves, but in the back 5 the Cowboys are clearly superior. The Dragons have an excellent centres pairing, but Hannay and Bowman can play a bit too.

i would agree with all of them except thurston being better than barrett.
Barrett is injured too often. At his best is possibly better than Thurstans, although Thurstans best is still yet to come. I think Barrett is one of the most overrated players in the NRL.

An interesting idea putting Bowen at half back. Similar to what Bennett has done in the trials with Hunt. If Hunt stays there I reckon that will give the broncos more potency. He's a wily old sod is Bennett.

Nope. And I actually support the Storm.

Plenty of potential lies in the Storm backline with Inglis, Turner, Webster, Slater and Cronk some of the most exciting young talent in Australia but only Slater has any runs on the board.

Walker is ******ed and should not be in our starting 13.

Gower can go sulk in Penrith. Cronk will much better than him by year's end.

And Hill is a f*cking star, you nimrod.

hill cost us the premiership ********ar.

fell over when he went to tackle the cowboy resulted into a try
missed a tackle which was easy as hell resulted in another try
and threw a interputed lolly dolly pass that got them a try

GET RID OF HILL

How old are you? 14?

Hill at his prime is the australian lock/make shift five-eighth. His cut-out passes are up there with the best in the league - Barrett, Joey Johns, Kimmorley etc. His problem is that that his shoulder is pretty much gone, and he's played out of position (he really should play lock), while someone like Inglis could potentially fill the number 6 spot.

I stopped reading there. What complete and utter nonsense. Without Hill we would not have been playing finals, so I fail to see how he cost us a Premiership.
