He would have to be one of our most unrated players!

The improvement in his game over the past 18 months have been out of this world! Runs harder than anyone in the team, providing a great link between the backline and forward line, and now a good user of the ball.

Also added strength and toughness to his game. Gone from one of the softest players in the AFL, to hardly losing a one on one and a tough bugger.

Maybe he's been living with Beau?

Well done Matt! :thumbsu:

yep, totally agree :thumbsu:

His attack on the ball and skill level has improved so much, and would have to be our most improved player in a year where nearly any of the players could take that title!

Well done Matt :thumbsu:

Has won me over.

Such a massive turn around in regards to his attack on the ball and his disposal. Would still like to see him kick more goals though, but massively impressed with him.

i'm surprised that some have said he is our most improved player (think i heard jako say this). he was actually really good last year too. you look much better when the team is going well, especially as an outside player.

he definitely has improved this year though, i find he's breaking more tackles and getting away from congestion a lot more often.

i've been a fan since he played a ripper in 2006 round 1 vs the crows, 27 touches and a goal in his first hand full of games. he knows how to find the ball and he knows how to use it.

Completely agree.

BTW there was a thread last week started by Quinz toasting Rosa.
Perhaps he deserves the weekly toast because of his improvement :thumbsu:

This isn't particularly recent news.
Improved significantly in 2009, continued it in 2010 and is now plying his trade with great consistency.
Very good player. Will be this crop's Braun.

This. Going into 2009 he had some question marks regarding his role in the side, improved through that season and started to lose his soft image. Started 2010 slowly after being held back by preseason injuries again. By the end of 2010 he was playing consistent football but fell away when the team was struggling.

This season he's been injury free, runs hard in both ways and has further improved his attack on the ball. Top notch overhead this season as well. Most impressive is his decision making under pressure, both he and Butlers disposal have made us a far better team than 2010.

If he starts kicking goals without hurting any other part of his game then he could be close to a star.

If he starts kicking more goals he'll essentially be an Embley clone, except probably better defensively and tougher in contests.

Rosa is a great example of a player who coaches persist with and reap the rewards for doing so. Similar things could be said about Scott Selwood, who made his fair share of errors and copped criticism in his first two seasons.

Rosa has improved slowly over the years, now he's starting to put it all together. He's always been a great runner and always runs to the right spots but it has been his helicopter kicking that really let him down. But that has tightened up immensely and gives me hope that Ebert can do the same when he gets to about 23-24.

Probably?

Everything said is true. Highlight of the game vs. Bulldogs for me was Rosa's "No fear. He wanted it more" hard ball get on center wing when the ball popped into the air.

Turned his biggest weakness into a strength. Rosa deserves a ton of credit personally for his continual improvement. Hmm... now if we can just teach Ebert how to kick, or get Strijk to agree to an illegal blood transfusion, we might be in line for a home final this year. ;)

Disagree to an extent as IMO the leap this year has been greater than in previous years. He tidied up parts of his game over the last couple of years (hospital passes to team mates no.1 on that list).
I think this year he has taken a bigger step than continual improvement.

Agree with Dodger. I think he's taken bigger steps this year than previous years. His attack on the ball is even higher than last year and his tackling has gone up a notch. His decision making is the other thing that has improved even more this year.

Plays his 100th against the Gold Coast in a couple weeks :thumbsu: He'll play an easy 200 + games for us, really excited to see how his gone about his business over the last couple years. Was surprised to see he made his debut way back in 2005 though.

I remember in 2008/2009 Rosa had just played a good game but wasn't really rated at that point in time. I was listening to the post match wrap on 6pr and some guy rang up and just said "It's time for the Eagles and their supporters to wake up and smell the Rosa" and hung up.

Was probably his dad lol.

Definitely taken it up a notch. I've always rated him over the years, ball magnet, but god he can be frustrating.

The 2007 Preliminary final loss to Collingwood - Strolls into the 50 to win us the game and sprays it.

The way i cringed when he got it knowing there would be a high loopy hospital pass coming.

I used to watch all the games at my tennis club and he used to get everyone fired up by the way he would get the ball, take a bounce, run himself into trouble and then just stop dead. Became quite comical actually.

Nothing like that this year. The whole team has improved. Rosa and Nicoski head the list :thumbsu:

He's been outstanding, most importantly I think is his willingness to take on the tackler I never thought I'd see Rosa with the ability to do that with his light frame, it's taken his game to a new level.
Confidence is a wonderful thing in football.
