Recommitted Max Gruzewski [OOC 2026] - name was floated for a move in 2025, stayed

In the VFL. Stuck behind a Coleman medalist and a number one draft pick. He must be thrilled.
tbf, Jesse is likely to be rested more next year ... and an injury/loss of form to any of Riccardi/Brown/Stringer opens a spot ... he'd be crazy to move now. Stay out his contract and try and build value for the next contract

Hogan's only 30.

The Coleman leader is two years older than him.

Gruz will be 22 next year and given he's been averaging 3-4 goals a game in the twos lately, its reasonable that he should be expecting a proper uninterrupted stint in the seniors at some point in the near future.

Hogan has a chronic foot problem and is set for resting going forward ... and that doesn't even consider an injury to any of the players I mentioned above. He is likely to get a good run

How chronic are we talking? He played close to complete seasons for you guys for the last three seasons.
Its a chronic problem associated with a pin he had inserted about 6 years ago ...

If Max wants to cash in, he needs to stay and make more of his chances (he looked lost against the weagles 2 weeks ago)

Very good point.

In saying that a year is a long time in football. Some people do not have the patience you are talking about... and some clubs do sell a good story. I think he could rock up at the Demons tomorrow knowing he is playing week in week out without having to worry about how Jesse Hogan is feeling... and that will have appeal

Sure he could, but to MAXimize hs contract value he should be looking to get more games under his belt first

Not that simple in reality. It all depends on how desperate the bidder for him is as opposed to him wanting to maximise his value

I think if you plan to maximise your value on the hopes Jesse Hogan doesnt play next week, the situation isnt one you would love to be in. Id rather maximise my value without needing someone elses input for that to occur and id be worried to live in that situation too

As I’ve said above, twice …. He’s an injury to any of 4 players away from a long run

That's the logical option.

Would be happy to see him take the illogical option and land at the Swans though. He's a good player only going to get better

I would have to admit that any team that offers him almost a guarantee of playing regular AFL time would be a chance to interest him ... however, that team would still need to convince GWS to release him. We've held players to their contracts in the past, and the draft this year is a strong deterrent to releasing someone.

He'd be our Sam Reid replacement. Untouchable when fit.

We need points this year, you'd prefer picks next year. I'm sure something could be worked out.

Fair enough.

Personally think he’s a third key tall… gets a bit lost at times playing at the higher level.
At his size he needs to find other ways to score but I’m not sure he can against defenders at the top level.

Id be choosing Richmond for sure. Carlton id think about. Other 4 are insane to talk too.
We're in the market for a third tall / higher marking forward to compliment Darcy & Naughton.

I'm thinking you want to be a bigger target then that though. How much money will you make in 10 years being third string for 10 years. If you go to Richmond you are probably main target up there in the first seasons as the younger guys develop

If it's about how many times you are targeted inside 50 then you gotta choose Richmond which at his age this is what it should be about

Given the amount of tall and medium forwards they just drafted, he’d be no better off at Richmond than a couple of the others. Richmond would be at the bottom of my list alongside Bulldogs.

Understandably this kid is a good player and would play games at all above clubs
even though we have 3 KPF drafted last year i would still take him
He wouldn't play for us but would be a nice depth player if Buku inevitably leaves

North should be right into him from what I have seen at VFL, good player strong mark could replace Darling
