Maxwell is likely to be suspended for an incident which is considered rough and behind the play. Fact is though, that Maxwell's actions are similar to what the majority of defenders do each game - as admitted by Reiwoldt and Lloyd over the weekend. Yes the bump is high but is this really an incident that should stop a premiership captain from playing a final or two?

It's the responsibility of the player to avoid his opponent's head. I can't see Maxy getting off, and I think he needs a spell TBH; he's badly out of sorts... On current form if Goldy is fit we will not miss him.

No it isn't but sadly it will! The rules as they stand now dictate that if a player is chasing the ball you must jump out of their way because they might hurt themselves when they run into you. It's a bit like Russian roulette, should their actions actually cause you injury then they will be the one facing suspension. Surely with every passing day the likelihood of a legal challenge draws closer!

Maxwell's intention was to hip and shoulder Puopolo, to stop his run inside 50.

Fact is, it was more than 5 metres away from the ball, his shoulder made contact with Puopolo's head.
He could have easily just followed him inside 50 and negated his impact on the contest within the rules.

Using Steve Johnson's case as a benchmark, will get 2 weeks, downgraded to 1 with an early plea.

Players know the rules, irresponsible on Maxwell's behalf.

I hope Maxwell gets off. He was trying block in a fashion that occurs 40 or more times a game. If it didn't draw blood it wouldn't have raised an eyebrow. Ironically, it was the rule change from when Maxwell hit McGinnity that has lead to this situation.

Roughead got a reprimand I think
Sorry my bad, just heard SEN say "he got off, Tarrant got a reprimand", so assumed it wasn't the same.

We should fight it, why not?

As for Gibson, he kicked Krakouer and got off completely, WTF?
But but but the force used was below that required to constitute a reportable offence...

Rougheads was worse than Maxwell's. I have never seen so many dogs play for a footy team, they are full of them the Hawks. Ah well such is life, we got to challange Maxwell's penalty and hope he gets it down to 1.

another joke, the selectiveness of the system. No issue with Maxwell, Gibson how was it not actionable, but Roughhead? He came up from behind Dawes, would Dawes have reasonably expected contact? It was of similar force to Johnson etc etc..It's a lottery
The prime thing that matters, is if there is any ' damage' done to the victim, on this basis alone Maxwell was done

Some season things conspire to either win or lose you a premiership, but today i dont care as much...
