Maxwell Subbing Mitchell

Hey all - talking about supercoach and Shane Crawfords team at work today, another co-worker comes up to us and mentions that in his dream team league a guy was playing Nick Maxwell's team, maxys machines (or something) - reckons Nick put sam mitchell on the bench prior to the lockout and prior to the announcmnet which begs the question - did he know beforehand? With money and prizes involved I think this is a bit dodgy.

Just speculation obviously, i heard it from a guy who's mate told him.....did anybody else see this?

Yes he did know beforehand.

It happened a few times last year and in particularly when I played him.

From memory I looked at his side to see Franklin on the bench and low and behold he's a late withdrawel.

He shouldn't be allowed to compete and as far as I'm concerned It's cheating. Inside knowledge against the rest of the competition.

It always involves Hawthorn players, he benched Roughead last week and traded Franklin out pretty much the first week.

May have something to do with the fact Wellingham and Franklin share a house.

I'd love Hawthorn to troll Maxwell with some fake 'inside info' this week so he can screw himself.

It's sad that an AFL player takes it so seriously.

I think if a non-player has inside info... e.g. walks down to match prac during the week and saw someone doing limited training that wasn't in the media and used that information to change their decisions that they make then that is perfectly within the rules.

I think an actual afl footballer than uses clear inside info to select their starting players from their lineup when the NORMAL decision making of most people (e.g. even the no. 1 and 2. teams from last week had Sam Mitchell on the field) would be to have that player on the field, then SOMETHING is clearly wrong. I would label this a violation of ethical rules, but not of those written into the competition.

I think the only upside is that because he is a celebrity coach he is not in the running for any prizes. But I do feel sorry for work leagues and cash league finals getting messed up by an auto-fill when they should really be as terrible as someone like Dr DT so you can LAUGH at their terrible side and be excited that you are beating someone who gets paid to play the game. Whereas losing to Maxwell is not fun. (not that it has happened to me, he's in none of my leagues and I would have beat him anyway).

Personally I wouldn't be surprised to hear that Maxwell has a bet on the coleman medal to go to the Pav.

He was in one of the leagues I was in last year. The round I played him, Collingwood were playing Sydney in Sydney on a Saturday night. I logged in to DT less than an hour before the start of the game and noticed that Maxwell was online checking his DT. You'd think an AFL Captain would have better things to do so close to the start of an important game.

I don't actually think the majority of the running of the team is actually Nick Maxwell
He clearly makes subs and changes his lineup before the rounds with all his inside information
But i believe the trades/upgrades/downgrades are all done by either someone else or a statistical program because he always gets the people projected to do the highest in the Assistant coach, and they always score high. Maxwell is far too stupid to be this good at Dreamteam
Also has anyone checked his trades this year?? I swear he has been making upgrades constantly, and seems to have excessive amounts of cash, going from Stephenson to Cox leaving Giles on the bench, going from Porplyzia to Beams etc at their highest prices.

I have a suspicion there is something shady going on, either on his inside information or just messing with the system.
He should not be allowed to compete. Or at least not be auto added to leagues.

Have you seriously heard yourselves ladies? If maxwell beats you then suck it up and get better or don't complain. I have a mate who also benched Mitchell - and he was working doing FIFO in the mines at the time, he also traded this week to cover a possible late withdrawal by buddy - omg he must have cheated! Franklin was always going to be out out for a minimum of 4 weeks so thats hardly a crystal ball moment, and maxwell STARTED with a great team.

How about instead of complaining about someone that is ineligible to win DT you spend the 5 months between seasons filling spots for your league?
