I didn't find your comparison amusing because it fu(ken pisses me off that everything gets turned into a eagles v freo war (and as subtly as you put it, thats where your post was headed). If you wanted to discuss freo's chances of a top8 berth, go and do it on the freo board!

Only if you make it one champ, as I say perspective is all I provided, nothing more, nothing less.

With all due respect, no ... as that wasn't my intention ... the only one who seems to have taken it that way is you my very angry young friend, as I say relax, it only becomes a large issue, if you make it one.

I don't think we're being pessimistic, we're being realistic. Pre-season means nothing, absolutely nothing. I agree with your comments about Judge, attitude and the rest and believe that a good coach with a good team spirit can achieve a lot in a competition which is equalised by draft and salary cap.

VoR By mentioning the word "pessimistic" I didn't mean to disrespect anyone's opinion. It's just my way of being positive about the Eagles prospects in 2002. I just have this feeling that all is going to turn out well. About my predictions the worst it could happen is that I would be wrong. I only disagree with you when you say that (quote) "Pre-season means nothing, absolutely nothing". It is true that last year Essendon made the Grand Final after a disastrous pre-season but on the other hand Port Adelaide had a fantastic season after winning the Ansett cup. In our case I think the pre-season means a lot because at least we have proved that we're no longer the easy beats of the last two seasons and gave us confidence to face the season with much more confidence.

Isn't Ken Judge a hypocrite! A few weeks back he wrote saying how he could never tell the players they weren't good enough to be finals material, yet this week he writes the Eagles are a chance to sneak into the top 8.
