McAlister did some good things when the pressure was on last night. A couple of strong grabs. Despite what many of you may think, I think he's a smart footballer. The guy seems to have a cool head in pressure situations. That's twice this season now.
I hope he keeps his spot after the break.

Must admit the chant of "Here comes a turnover" started when he took that mark late in the last qtr. To everyones surprise, a very nice kick to Danny-Boy to help set up the Barney goal.
Well done I guess - but how many years has it taken?

I hope he keeps his spot after the break.
Certainly wouldn't go that far!

Have never bagged the boy. I know the D-Mac has potential ... but he has been unlucky with injuries. Hope he comes on. Remember, he is still quite young. He has great skills and speed ... his problem has been that when selected ... he tries too hard to make an impression.

That was a mark (in the last qtr) that he had to take.

I agree with go team ... he deserves to keep his spot. But I thought that after the Fremantle game. I think he needs a decent run in the seniors.

Oh come on. Surely before you all have a mutual masturbation session over him you must wait until he revives the goose step, which he did try.

Why not start a Bolton appreciation thread for that one handed grab he took (Yes, I'll admit it was good.)? I think you should settle down before starting such threads as this.

That mark will be Bolton's entire highlight reel in his career. Speaking of "players with potential", anyone else of the view that Henneman is not up to it?

where's wally?

Yeah, I thought for the amount of gameplay that D-mac got, he played really well. Strong mark on the half-back flank right when the pressure was on. I think he will retain his spot this week, hopefully he'll have another good game.

Now Bolton, that guy is a bloody dud, everytime he goes near the ball on the backline, you can be sure a goal for the opposition will ensue, or at least a turnover. Get rid of him I say. That one-hander though, was quite impressive. HOwever if anyone remembers from his kick came a hawthorn one-hander....(i knew his possesion would lead to a turnover!)

Yep,people keep telling me about what he`s going to do,well I`ve been watching and not that impressed.

Danny Mac,I can tear into players with the best of them, but i leave this fella alone, you can not be completely friendless in 40,000 + crowd whenever you get picked.

Certainly share your view on him. Thought it for the last 2 seasons now.

Precisely, tries to run before he can walk. He probably is capable of becoming a regular senior player if he can just do the team/percentage things out on the field.

On Henneman: fantastic in the 2000 pre-season comp, sweet FA since. He is an honest battler, nothing more.

Yep, told one of my mates last year i didn't think he was good enough.....he laughed. After Friday night (and a few other games this year) , he now agrees.

where's wally?

Don't you mean 'goosestep'?:D

Here here, on Henneman. Very unimpressed with him last year, and he earnt the tag "Project" (a la Kevin Walsh).

Good pre-season this year from what I saw, and the hopes were raised, but done not much since (even with limited game time)....

McAlister??

Stay in the side??

NOT!

But then I would have said the same thing about Henneman twelve months ago, and I'm warming (slowly) to him...so don't listen to me..

Hell, play Bolton as well...who else have we got to fill CHB??

Yep.

But i don't mind waiting a little longer to find out. Occasionally he looks the goods. In my opinion, he's got until the end of next year to prove he can do it every week.

Nah, bugger it, recruit Carey.

Can swing between half forward and half back, give us time to maybe groom Sam Hunt for CHB, keep Scotty on his toes.

Maybe a little short term thinking is required, here.
Won't happen though. Who would you get rid of to make way for him....Blumfield, Heff or TurtleMan??? No way, Jose! Then you get MAYBE 2 seasons out of Carey..when his body lets him play..I think not.

And while I'm on a rant. Rama in the middle and Rioli for a back pocket. I'm with Sheeds and I can hear the Martians coming....

Henno is ok - when you compare him to say Bolton or McAlister, then you'd have to go with Henno every time.
Hell, he's shown lots of potential!
But you've gotta question why Bolts is still on the list.
I mean, he's not getting a predominate role in the seniors and with the emergence of guys like Welshy etc it's doubtful that Bolts will be a permanent fixture in the senior side.
And it's not fair on him either, so i doubt he'll be around enxt year,
As for D-Mac - he's been on the list for bloody ages (can't use his contract as an excuse really) so he's gotta have some sort of talent! i just wish he'd hurry up and show some of it!
Talking to TopDon about this the other day, i think D-Mac's problem is a confidence thing - once given the chance, i'm sure he'll improve.
