Universal Love McBean... Its time!

If we need to bring him in we obviously will, otherwise I'm just happy knowing that he is developing nicely in the VFL. I've got a good feeling about McBean.
I definitely think Griffiths stays in though, his marking has been good and has been moving well. Plus he can kick the ball into outer space.

No point in destroying McBean's body by playing him in the seniors every chance we get like Essendrugs are with Daniher

My thoughts also, he's developing nicely in the two's and there is no reason to put the lamb to the slaughter like Daniher yet.

Maybe bring him in against St Kilda for some experience, if he kicks more than 5 he can stay for Sydney, otherwise let him keep doing what he's doing

Has a lot of development to go, he knows it, the club knows it, we all know it, going to be an even better player once he gets it right, what a steal at pick 33

It's the style he plays. He can't mark. The NAB game showed what will happen to a forward that can't mark.

If you're happy for him to get beaten up, well play him. Personally I'd prefer he'd have another pre-season. Get to 98-100kg where he will be able to compete in contests. He's going to be a bloody star but he just isn't ready.

All that is excluding the fact he doesn't defend at all so we can sit back and watch Adelaide's defenders waltz out of our forward line at will.

We only have to look to Friday night to see what happens when you play a skinny take too early. Did Daniher touch the footy?

Who do we drop for him? Griffiths or Riewoldt?

The Nab Cup and VFL practise matches showed what happens when you play in February after only resuming training early January from a fractured/broken ankle. He can mark just needs to play within his limitations at the moment, which is leading and taking it at it highest point. Like he did a lot for coburg last year instead of wrestling with his opponents, which won't cut it at AFL level until he puts on some muscle like you said. He's real problem at the moment is his defensive side of his game like you said.

Of coarse Daniher did nothing, the bloke was never expected to be playing. He had missed 4 weeks with fractured clavicle. Should of come back through the VFL not chucked straight into the AFL underdone.

If McBean does play this season it will only be as a third tall and if we lose to Adelaide. So he won't play until next season as we won't lose another game.:p:eek:

He marks on the lead fine, I accept he isn't taking contested pack grabs , that will come though, joe Daniher doesn't either

Agree with all that but I wouldn't play Daniher in our team either. Against the Saints I'd be ok with it because he will play on a small guy like he does at VFL.

Have we signed him up yet? Teams will start taking notice.

We need to give him more game time other wise another club could look interesting to him
Relax he's a tiger, have a look at him he's got to put on some muscle. He's a star in the making, but we need to be patient with him
Why risk him on the big stage with 3 games to go where he's physically underdone? Leave him for next year after a hard workout during the preseason.i can wait with him as more development in the twos won't hurt him and he's aware of it

I was there just last week. He took 1. Who do you want to drop for him? Griff or Jack?

Just look at Daniher for a great example of why we should be patient.
Yep both Cannon team mates Daniher was ahead of him physically, but McBean has more skill below the knees and does mercurial acts compared to Dher.both classy footballers who are gong to be fantastic for both teams in time

You mean I actually have to go to a game to have an opinion? BF does not work that way you fool:p Besides, going to Coburg all those years has scarred me:(
Never saw you once there and I never missed a game
We're you busy having Presidents lunches?;)

Im happy to wait until next year to see " Bean"

Let him stay at VFL Level to win the goal kicking award which will give him huge confidence for next year where he can be played 5-8 games unless there is a major injury to one of the KPF

Should be over 100kgs by 2016 season rolls around and ready to take on the world

Anyone else worried if he puts on too much weight?
Even though he needs to be bigger for the pack marks we don't want him to lose his aerobic ability. It's what makes him so dangerous.

So your judging his marking on one game? great sample size there. Not saying he should debut, just pointing out that you should watch more games before commenting on players
McBean has taken, not counting last night, 6 contested marks in his previous 4 games, 3 of them came in one game. In the same time he has taken 19 marks in total. I've watched 3 of those 4 games live and McBean has been more right place right time in getting those goals rather than clunking marks and slotting through goals from set shots.

Having watched McBean in those games and seen him still have to be told where he needs to be in structures and where he needs to run to have a real impact on games. As I said a lot of the goals he has has got in the previous 4 games were the result of being in the right place when the ball dropped to get a quick snap away or was on the end of a chain where he could kick a Joe the Goose type of goal.

I would be. At his height, too heavy puts too much strain on the joints. Will break down quicker.

believe he is currently around 94-95kgs another 5-6 kgs wont really restrict him much and will always have that agility

Still not ready IMO. You can't rely on crumbing and snaps like he does at afl level. He can't take contested marks. Maybe give him a game against the Saints.

I was in the "not ready camp" until last night when I went and watched the game at Bendigo... although he was up against some ordinary opposition I have to Disagree with the above,,, one of his strengths is knowing where ball drops. His marking is a strength... He times his leads well and is a fantastic set shot.... and I think we are playing 1 marking option short. I think we could play him deep with Jackr and allow Griffith to play further up the ground.

Good to hear. I have no doubts that it's only a matter of time till he builds strength and will clunk them anyway.

In comparing him to Daniher we need to remember Joe jumped him by almost a year as he was training with Essendon for the whole season when they were in their last season at TAC level
They put heaps into joe to fast track him while McBean was still with the Cannons
When Joe came back and kicked 7 in his first game early in the season he was slightly bigger, but by seasons end he looked and was stronger especially in the legs and Torso regions not so much the arms

Them Drugs ;)

Agree that he isn't ready yet, despite how much we would all love to see him run out. Possibly give him a game against the saints to give him a taste of it, but otherwise just let him win the VFL goalkicking and have a huge preseason coming into next year. That all changes if Griff has indeed broken his hand in which case we need him to play
