Michael McGuire's abysmal effort at slamming the Crows' recruiting has been ripped to shreds twice in a week. Douglas, Vince, Griffen, van Berlo, Knights, Porplyzia are going okay, thanks very much, and Mcguire also clearly overlooked the fact that Rutten, Bock, Mattner, Thompson, Hudson have all been recruited in recent years. Anyway, recruiting absolute gun forwards is not easy and even if you can get them it doesn't mean you are going to win a premiership. But hopefully we have some luck with Sellar and Tippett down the track .

My main problem with guys like McDermott, Rucci and plenty of others is that instead of giving decent analysis which includes weighing up pros and cons they feel the need to make predictions all the time. The stupidity of that is that the only football previews that we ever to to read or hear are akin to visiting a psychic. Very hit and miss. Sometimes they will get lucky, often their predictions are made to look ridiculous.

My favourite commentator/sports writer in this country is Simon Hill. That guy is a true master and some of these AFL "experts" could really do well to take a leaf out of his book. He doesn't feel the need to make predictions all the time, he sticks to what he knows, and it shows. McAvaney is similar in that way too.

Nah - that's just an obvious one. We ARE slow and are at risk against the faster teams. Having said that, we moved the ball faster than the opposition could run on Saturday, so maybe that is our counter action to an obvious short coming.

Not sure too much can be read into this game from that point of view.

This game unfortunately turned out exactly how I predicted it could end up in the pre game "preview" threads both on this board and on the Port board. No prizes for that as it wasn't that hard, but the Port coaching staff need to shoulder some of the blame and learn from the loss.

A lot has been made about fast sides lately, but the difference between being fast and not is only one or two players. On Saturday with no Pearce we were not a fast side. With no Pearce and no Brogan we then lost the reason we came back at Freo. On top of that our forward set up and inside 50s with Tredrea in the team sucks. We still have lots to fix.

The Crows are still susceptible to sides that apply forward line pressure, have a decent plan for inside 50s and have decent tall backs. Sounds like a lot, but plenty of teams have that.

The fact that neither side scored 100 points in near perfect weather is also not a good pointer for either club IMO. Just over 20 scoring shots for each team. 23 for Port and 22 for the AFC.

Why is it that so many people hate what McDermott and Rucci etc write in the advertiser, and spend hours on boards such as this one bagging what they have written ?

If you don't like what they write save yourself five hours of good oxygen and don't read their articles in the first place.

Many posters on here complain about the two aforementioned gentlemen's bitterness towards the AFC. Seems to me that your bitterness towards them is just as great. It's getting boring reading similar titles every week about either of those two on bigfooty.

When I first joined bigfooty this section of the site was informative, interesting and had more intelligent posts than any other on it. Now when I log on all I see is Rucci this McDermott that.....

Lets get back to some interesting and informative discussions about things people are interested in rather than using this board as a whinging device.
