Am I the only one who gets bugged by Jeff Thomson not silencing the 'th' in McGrath when he is commentating? I have booked a session with my therapist (therapist with a silent h).

Well, the "h" in "therapist" is not technically silent

Well, the "h" in "therapist" is not technically silent - when placed after the "t" in the English language, it produces a sound made by lifting the tounge to the top teeth and blowing air in between. Although on the other hand, you could argue that both the "h" and the "t" are both silent since neither letter is pronounced in the usual manner.
Additionally, if the English language wasn't so arse about, then Thommo would actually be pronouncing McGrath's name correctly.
Dunno, but seeing that everyone pronounces it McGrar, pronouncing it McGrath just sounds plain silly. I wonder when Thommo sits in the outer, if he shouts "Ooh Arth, Glen McGrath"Originally posted by The Spornstar
Isn't McGrath an Irish name?
