McGuane & Moore

McGuane looked alright. Give him a chance to establish himself terry.

Moore did some ok things, looks a lot better than he has in the past but still looks a bit starstruck out there. Deserves more chances too.

I thought Moore did some good things but absolutely squibbed on a couple of occasions in the 1st half costing goals. Got better as the game went on. McGuane's defensive and aerial work was ok but he's Gaspar reincarnate with the ball in his hands. Talk about a deer in headlights.

both better than sarge!!!!!

Are you kidding?

Moore was woeful. Turned the ball over more times then ive ever seen before, he finally did something good in the 2nd or 3rd quarter when he took a great over head mark, then hand passed it straight to a Carlton player.

Cleared.

Good news for Luke, will give himself a great chance to test himself this week probably against an O'Loughlin or O'Keefe type.

I didn't think there was much in that, the carlton bloke seemed to duck his head more than anything.

Very impressed with the games of both McGuane and Moore. Very promising signs for the future IMO.
Was at the game and was impressed at the way they both threw themselves at the ball and packs, and sticking well to their opponents. Both also have very good closing speed.

Skills and general football nous need a bit of work, but that should develop with more experience and confidence.

The question though is Pat Bowden vs Kelvin Moore? A guy who conceedes 2 goals but can get 25 touches and generate run and scoring chances, versus a guy who still conceedes 2 goals but does next to nothing coming the other way.

I think if Moore is going to play as that 4th defender he needs to do a lot, lot more coming the other way.

Moving Pat Bowden to the wing and Moore into his spot is a double-loss for us. We lose B2's run out of the backline, and we end up a man short in midfield because Patty has never seen a pack that he can't run away from.

So Moore has had enough chance to prove he can't play in Pat's 'supposibly' (yes its only one game, so Pat might go back yet) old position?

Get ****ed weaver, It's been one game and his first game he has played in all four quarters. In fact he played 1/3 of his AFL career on the ground on sunday. (If you add up the minutes he has played.)

Most of your opinions I respect weaver, but his age is really getting to you.

Personally i think this just means gasper has to go. He isnt much taller then Mcguane or Moore and these guys are able to dispose correctly.

The game has passed Gasper by!

Definately. Although Gaspar played quite a good game last night, i would not be expecting that every week (lets hope he proves me wrong) His disposal is horrendous and last night McGuane and Moore proved that they are more than capable filling key positions down back. The return of Thursfield will give us a very young, athletic backline which i'm looking forward to seeing.

Why do people keep saying he had a good game. He was horrible. He shut down an out of form Whitnall. That was it. He didnt provide any cut out on any other carlton forwards, he turned the ball over consitently or gave off to other players already in trouble resulting in a turn over. Barely tackled or shepherded.

If he is not taking the oppositions most dangerous forward he should not be playing.

moores game was probably better than i expected. I went in not expecting much at all from him but he did ok. Liked Mcguanes game alot

I think Gaspar, Moore and McGuane all had a case of the fumbles on Sunday but I'm attributing that to first game nerves, other than that I think they all had decent games, they were hard at the ball and took some strong grabs..

Gaspar was not terrible, he ran off a lot and was usually the first tiger to dive onto the ball to prevent it falling into enemy hands.

its because all these losers blow thier load when one of the duds has a satisfactory game and they feel they need to shove it in everyones face

like when wally started the thread on tivendale when he was flying in the 2nd quarter but then by the 4th when we needed a senior head to stand up and get us back in the game he was NOWHERE

be happy with crap and you will keep getting it!!!

:) NOT a fan of Moore before the game and did nothing to suggest I alter my view. Sorry!
Just can't get enthused at all.

McGuane .... well, might get there, but may not. Think he is the more likely of thre two to develop into something decent! Especially with some bulk. Moore far too easily brushed aside!

:) AS is generally the case, it all comes back to Tivendale.

To use your own words, the Tigers lose, people"feel they need to shove in in everyone's face" that Tivva was to blame.

Clearly among our best two on Sunday.

Did he go missing by the 4th. Yeah, probably, ALONG WITH 21 OTHER TIGERS!!!!

Condemn Tivva all you like, far from the biggest of our problems!!!!

McGuane for all his unmanaged exuberance looks like he has the foundation to build something from.

Moore has been in the system long enough to be showing that little bit more. Think TW likes the speed and athletisism he shows, however he has only 21 rounds left to make his mark in AFL footy.

I was more impressed with Polak, who although ran our of gas quickly showed enough versatility to build from.

With Moore, Gaspar and McGuane in the backline we are struggling for genuine playmakers to run and carry the football. We went too wide from defence and lacked enough players quick enough to run the central lines.
