McGuane got three weeks, two weeks if he takes the early guilty plea

Cyril got two weeks for his love tap on Nat Jones

Thursty is a defintie in, and we won't have to worry bout Roili which means Matty White can go to Mitchell/Hodge.

I'd like to see the matchups as this

Astbury-Roughead
Thursty-Franklin

Do the Hawks have any other forwards apart from these 2 and Cyril???

Good result.

Two weeks pretty lucky imo. We won't have him for the Pies or the Hawks, but in reality we were never going to be great chances against them anyway.

2 weeks with an early plea is a fair and just result considering Ray got up and took the kick for goal.
Rioli out is a bonus for us.
Still, Franklin, Roughead and Burgoyne are a fair amount of firepower still left up forward.

mcguane and rioli both out is probably a win for us overall!!

A big NO to Thursfield on Franklin as Buddy will utterly rip him a new one (each quarter) ... never could there be a bloke less physically suited (Thursty is slower, lighter, less agile etc etc).

I would rather try Gourdis on Buddy as at least he can somewhat match him physically. Or if they are going to play someone physically mis-matched, play a young lad like Grimes and write it off as future experience.

Playing Thursfield on Buddy achieves nothing other than conceding a ton of scoring shots and hoping Buddy is having a bad kicking day.

I have so little confidence in Thursfield on Buddy i would actually prefer any of the following instead: Gourdis, Grimes, Post, Dea, Tuck, Nahas, Nason, Paul Bullus out of retirement, an old sock that Richo wore from 2003, one of Andy Collins pubes which was left by him before going to the Scum so we can create a clone (think Superman IV) or even just Pat Contin sitting in the stands and using telepathy to defend Buddy everytime the ball comes down that end.

Dont get to carried away with the scare factor tigerheads. The brains trust should plan for Buddy to kick 4 or 5 and for JR to kick 9 or 10.

Lets not forget we too have a super star FF who has to be stopped.

Dont know how tall he is, but on what he has shown and knowing that he would run through a brick wall to make sure his opponent doesnt win a contest, O'reilly would be my option for Buddy. Just let him run with buddy all over the FL and spoil. ;)

Well at last the McGuane one is fair.

Rioli,not too sure.

I reckon Kennett will be angry about this.

Gives us a massive chance to win though even without McGuane.

Perfect scenario for us that Jack went out because he will so built up to kick arse, they will not be able to hold him.

I sense a Morton or Vicks is gonna break free also.

GET TO THE G FFS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That is amazing thought he'd get 4-6. All I can say is "wow"

Did he actually make contact with Ray's head though??

Looked bad cos he jumped into him, but it didn't look high in slow-mo, and Ray's reaction was more of a player being hit in the chest/hitting the ground hard, than a player being hit in the head.

Rioli only has one week now after the MRP made an error.

What did they say?

"who do the Hawks play this week?"

"Richmond"

"Aaaaw nooooo can we change it to no weeks?"

"no **** it,bloody Tiges have a chance now"

"After all our good work last week"

:D

We'll definitely want a near-permanent second opponent for Franklin.

I would go with Thursty on Roughead as he's slightly more experienced, and Astbury and either of Grimes or Gourdis on Franklin.

Both will be unexperienced and probably out of form (unsure on the status of the latter two), but two opponents on Franklin is so much better than one. Just need to hope Will can keep Roughead honest.

:confused:Another thread masquerading as another feeble excuse for the "Bring in Gourdis" brigade.
Yeah, Gourdis on Buddy ... the guy was flat out trying to stop no names from Sandringham last week!
Wake up!

Luke can think himself very lucky indeed. Rance would be scratching his head thinking WTF!!

Very satisfied with Lukes result.
Could've been a lot worse...

Imo the Rioli decision was very soft and id be frustrated if i was a hawks fan. Oh well it makes life a little easier for us saturday but still Buddy will tear us a new one, Moore normally does a very good job on him and we have f all strong backman avaliable atm :(

I agree, take the 2 and try not to laugh too loudly when accepting it!!! At least Rioli won't tear us up and kick freakish goals like he seems to love doing against us....

I think we just play someone on Franklin to niggle him. Step on his toes, get in his face. Some players respond to this and some don't. But i've seen Franklin kick bags of points before and he did against the Dees this week too. Great athletic player, but to my mind a bit mentally weak. We should look to exploit it.
