All week the topic has revolved around the traibunal appearance and suspension of Collingwood's vice captain, Anthony Rocca.

Did anyone find it extremely interesting that the issue of his suspension was not discussed AT ALL last night ont he footy show? Brief mention was made about how they'll replace him, but that's it.

Any other player from the other 15 clubs in the competition would've been heavily scrutinised by McGuire, Newman and Co., but due to it being a Collingwood player... the entire group were censored.

No mention of what they thought of the decision at all, whether the decision was just or unreasonable... is this McGuires way of stating that the decision was fair? I'd suggest not, because the first excuse that will come out of that triple-chinned pr*ck on Monday (if) they lose will be the fact they were gutted by the tribunal.

I was sincerely hoping for a Collingwood victory tomorrow... now l can't wait for the Lions to get up so that l can see McGuires reaction. Anyone that suggests there is no conflict of interest there is derranged!

You idiot.

If he metioned it you would have abused him for it. Now that he didn't, you are abusing him for it. Surely you have something better to do than worry yourself about a bloke who wouldn't even know you existed.

You would assume and hope, Ed would have learnt from last years stupidity by having Cloke on the panel looking like he wished he was dead and eddie sitting there questioning the whole system etc etc.

Last year this would only have served to make matters worse for Cloke and hopefully this is why Ed kept Rocca out the lime-light.
Rocca deserved the penalty he commited a reckless act but the pain the poor dude must be feeling at missing his maybe one shot at a premiership would be more than we could imagine.
I beleive he deserved his penalty but cannot help feeling a bit sorry for him even if he is collinscum, no person should have to endure such pain when its what there life is streamlined to acheive.

I think Ed did the right thing keeping him off the panel and keeping it at least quiet, no amount of whinging would change it and it would just make Rocca even more hurt.

Hopefully they learnt from last year's embarassment. I don't think you can hold it against them not mentioning it.

Well, I'm not a big fan of Eddie McGuire but give the guy a break. He's damned if he does and damned if he doesn't.
The complaint would have been the other way if he had this morning about why McGuire always goes on about Collingwood.

I've been waiting for the usual complaints this morning that it's the Collingwood show and the other 15 clubs didn't get a look in last night - whoops.

you don't have to bring him on, but the point is, the footy show is a show that is supposed to be about football. now, in the biggest week of the year, the biggest issue of the year is not discussed.

it would be like not discussing john howard being expelled from parliament the week before the election, on a politics show.

I'm the first to say i hate eddie and think it's dodgy how he uses the collingwood footy show to promote his club and players at the expense of other clubs.

however, last night he was fair to both teams, although of course he had collingwood on first, but he spent the same amount of time on each team.

With the rocca thing, rocca probably asked ed not to go on about it, and doing so would have highlighted his mistake and the legal teams failure, so eddie left it alone.

eddie kisses tradition goodbye.....ker-ching....

mcguire isnt gutless, he's just crazy.

he's tearing at the very heart of what makes collingwood what it is.

no longer a club for the battlers, but a club for the corporate big end of town, he's turning the club's back on its roots.

the club moving from its old vic park base to the olympic joint (what's with that name anyway?) is proof, & just the beginning "of the end".

a shame to think that the pies & vic park will no longer "be one".

if port left alberton (it will never, ever happen) there would be hell to pay.

where's the tradition eddie? if you supporters like the guy, the way he's turned that famous club into a "one person" identity, i pity you, i really do.

Don't tell their boss, but they were "sick" There's a flu going around you know ;)

Eddie was very professional last night. The right thing to do was to leave the Rocca thing dead and buried - Rocca isn't playing and that's it.

I wish Eddie's approach on the Footy Show to any game that Collingwood plays in was always as fair as last night. He was good.

I haven't heard Eddie's thoughts on Rocca's suspension. The only concern I have about his COI is that if it was two different clubs in the GF and one player had been suspended, would Eddie the media man have lambasted that player on the Footy Show for being a goose? Possibly not because that is why Sam is there, to be the controversial one but I feel sure the Footy Show would dish out a bit of stick to players from other teams in the same circumstance. Has this happened with Collingwood on the Footy Show? Certainly Eddie's dual role means that he can't comment on his own players as someone with his media role might usually do and his cohorts under him will be loathe to do so also.

Yes, yes, you already mentioned this year-old news in another post. So afraid no-one cares about you that you have to repeat yourself?

EDIT: For your information, Olympic Park's name stems from... guess what? The Olympics. That were held in Melbourne in 1956. Bit like Homebush etc. has Olympic this and Olympic that now.
