Surprised no one has mentioned Blight's Non Victorian ladder article in the SM. Has the Crows ahead of Brisbane despite winning 1 less flag and being in 2 more GF's due to the Crows having a superior winning rate (52% compared to Brisbane's 45%). Yet Port only get a pass mark - just, winning a flag and having a winning percentage of 52%, incidently, the same as the AFC.

The McIntyre Final 8 era has more asterisks than a French lad's comic collection.

Teams pumped by 8 and 12 goals respectively in 5th and 6th getting the double chance. A 6th placed loser getting a home final at the expense of a 5th placed winner because of the MCG contract. 22 weeks of ladder rankings and home ground advantage being completely reordered after one week of results.

It comes as no surprise that the two teams that profited most from this ramshackle gin-soaked system haven't been to a Grand Final since.

To this day I still don't understand the shambolic system. The Williams/Sheedy final 13 made more sense.
