What did everyone think of Mcleod on the weekend - i know there has been a lot of talk about trading him, but thought he really played well on the weekend, did some real slick work almost like his glory days, seems to share it around a little to much though.

He played a pretty good game, not in our top 5 but not far out of it IMO.

I definitely dont want to see him traded. I'd like to see him start spending more time as a small forward. Ayres tried to make him a half-back flanker but I dont think that suited him. The guy has great goal sense which is something you can't teach. He could easily be a 40+ goal kicker similar to Matera i.e. he can lead and take a mark but also kick the crumbing goals.

Andrew was pretty good yesterday & might have been over doing the team-thing in trying to set up goal kicking opportunities for others when he would have been better off having a shot himself.

WOULD NEVER TRADE HIM

It suited him fine when he won the 2 Norm Smith Medals. This sort of reasoning gets up my nose a bit. He is a player and no matter where the coach tells him to play he should approach the game properly. Whether thats FP, onball, BP, HBF or on the wing he has to come to play with the right frame of mind. When thrown to HB he sooks like a little kid when you take tha candy away. It ********s me that McLeod dictated where he plays by his attitute. He should play where it is best for the side and if thats as pinch hitter off the bench he should embrace it.

Now onto the game. I thought he played pretty well but needs to sustain it over a longer period of time. Also he is becoming a bit too hesitant especially when he has a chance to go for goals.

Just following on from what Stiffy said, it suited him just fine when he won the Gold Jacket in 1997...

I watched McLeod very closely in the early stages of the game - he was cruising away from the play & appeared to be trying to stay out of the action. Had numerous chances to get involved, but elected not to - looked disinterested. However, he did improve as the game went on, but still badly under-achieving & not giving 100% for 100% of the game IMO.

What abou the fake handpass and turn the other way to run off on the outer wing. It was absolute magic and worth the price of entry.

Then Tyson Edwards did the smae thing in the next quarter.

Yesterday had several great individual moments, as well as the usual amount of wide indirect rubbish.

Only looked good because the purchaser of the dummy must have been ******ed - the fake and go was slow as - it lacked the not-so-usual-anymore explosiveness I thought.

I thought Macca played alright yesterday, worked himself into the game.
I think he should be kept in the centre and allow to play his own game. You cant teach a player like that how to play, just let him do it.
I think he might be down on confidence because he seemed to dish off alot in front of goals, theres nothing wrong with that as it seemed to pay off every time. However its just not the macca of old where he would split the middle with a great snap. I dont think he is far off though.
