McPhee has been rubbed out by the MRP for a level 3 striking offence on Freo's Thornton. Two weeks total suspension, but with his priors, an early plea will still amount in a two weeker.

Even though he makes a few mistakes, it will still be big hole to fill for this weeks game against the bluebaggers.

Yeah it was early. I thought it was abit silly but not reportable when I saw it live and on the replay they showed.

This is where the tribunal system is flawed. Soft incidents like this still somehow get alot of activation points and some harder and more dangerous incidents seem to incur much less.

I've seen the game now. I don't even remember McPhee striking. Must have been soft. How many weeks did Dean Bogan get?

mmmmm... with McVeigh back. Skipworth forward? or maybe he's not tall enough. I wonder if Atkinson could play the role. Dempsey forward, Atkinson back? Maybe even Houli?

Always does a pretty good job against us, and given that he kicked 3 goals yesterday, will be a pretty big loss for your mob. Kinda "evens things out" with us losing Jamo with a shoulder injury for a couple of weeks.

I must say, I saw most of this game on Foxtel, and didn't see any incident.

NLM imo.

We should just play a full game every day of every week because bad things only happen in between games.

What a ****en joke. Hopefully we appeal this as there is no chance of a player helping us out after Chad Cornes decided to act like a ****wit and make stupid accusations.

Always too much to expect us to not lose a player.

Watch for someone to get injured at training tomorrow. :(

I must say i didnt see the incident, but i saw someone (im now guesing it was thornton) getting helped off the ground from around the 50m line of our forward half early on in the game. Having said that, it seemed like a genuine marking contst, so it might be similar to the Chris Grant suspension when he "hit" Nick Holland. Thats my best bet anyway.

Adam McPhee, Essendon, has been charged with a Level Three offence for striking Scott Thornton, Fremantle, during the first quarter of the Round Two match between Essendon and Fremantle, played at Docklands on Sunday April 5, 2009.

In summary, his previous poor record and his existing carry-over points from within the last 12 months means that his two-game sanction must remain at two games, even with an early plea.

The incident was assessed as intentional conduct (three points), medium impact (two points) and body contact (one point). This is a total of six activation points, resulting in a classification of a Level Three offence, drawing 225 demerit points and a two-game sanction. He has a total of two matches suspended within the last three years, increasing the penalty by 20 per cent to 270 points. He also has 37.50 points carried over from within the last 12 months, increasing the penalty to 307.50 points and a three-game sanction. An early plea reduces the penalty by 25 per cent to 230.63 points and a two-game sanction. (essendonfc.com.au)

He can play Mcphee's role. Neagle and Williams can't.

If McPhee were more likely to have been playing back I might have agreed with you, but after kicking three against Freo I reckon he would have played forward again. I don't recall NLM playing forward convincingly (though I could stand corrected on this). He doesn't mark strongly either. I'd even rather Neagle had another go than NLM, in rotation of course. I don't reckon Neagle's got the engine for it. Now that you've mentioned Williams, I wouldn't mind seeing him get another go either. I don't think the Carlton defenders would pay him any mind, so he could be dangerous by stealth.

Fairly sure it was a bit of a cheap shot in the stomach as they were running past each other.....mackie was the player who got off the same thing last week. Pretty dirty by Mcphee but not worth 2 weeks

Thanks for that Mr.
I hope one of the networks comes up with some vision. There's a big difference between a tummy tap and an uppercut.

sounds like it is worth appealing...but it is the afl tribunal and they do like screwing over essendon...particularly before carlton matches historically (firstly it was ian collins and now mckay takes over...) i'd have to say it must have been andrew mckay's opinion that it was intentional to pump up the points to ensure he misses the carlton match. if they do appeal surely they could argue it was not intentional.

for mine it was reckless, low impact, body contact and should have been nothing.

gee i hate carlton - CFC (corrupt football club).
