hi,
i havent seen a great deal of this lad, but remember a game against port, where he looked good... what do saints fans think of him and do u think he will take the needed steps up in 06?

I'll be very surprised if he's not a regular from early on in the season.

I'm not just impressed with the way he tackles and goes about winning the hard ball but unlike a lot of other youngsters is down to earth and has his head screwed on.

Andrew McQualter will be a strong chance to take out the Rising Star award in 2006. He is not flashy, which rates against him, but he is a strong young man with the benefit of 2 full preseasons after already being one of the most advanced in fitness of 2004 recruits (as atested to by his draft camp results). He may be much more developed than many of the new (2005) recruits. He is an accumulator of possessions and his tackling and sacrifice for his teammates will show him to be one of the most valuable recruits of the 2004 crop.

The oldies in Peckett, Thompson, Harvey and maybe Powell, will be winding up their careers, they wont have a tomorrow and therefore may get preference in selection. This will also work against him (for the Rising Star).

After those oldies leave, McQualter will be essential in the midfield, an automatic inclusion.

Just a question. How do you guys rate McQualter compared with Polo, his old team mate. Both were in the 2004 Draft Mac pick 18, Polo 20. We're very happy with Polo at Richmond, averages just the 15 possies per game for us this year, but has still lots of improvement on that. Do you think you guys made the right decision? I've seen Mac play twice this year, looks pretty small and didn't look like the fastes bloke going around.

From what I see he looks handy. I know i've been critical of a lot of the St Kilda players recently but along my travels I've noticed a lot of people have said this guy is a bust, and get rid of him.

As I say I think he looks ok... he has also only been in the league a short time in comparision to some of our other recent draft picks. I think he really needs to find a role in the team, I suspect that for now it may be coming off the bench and playing a wing/hf?

He is a dud, cannot play, sack him.

Polo was a fantastic pickup, a standout of that draft. To compare him to McQualter will always have Polo on top. McQ needs to start winning some of his own ball and work on his delivery. You cannot be "just a tagger" in this day and age.
