I've usually been a McVeigh supporter, but am convinced he should NOT be captain.

He doesn't inspire, either by word or by deed. He doesn't exhibit any of the traits I would expect from the leader of a team. He doesn't lift the team, and apart from the coin toss, what does he offer as captain?
:thumbsd:

Please note, this is not a thread on his ability, but on his role as Captain.

I hear bedford calling....a moment in the last minute of the game summed it all up for me about Macca, did anyone else notice this? PS: I want to see if anyone else noticed before I quote :)

There was a moment he didnt chase from just out of our forward 50, took a half step and stood still while a Carlton player took off into space, Im assuming thats what your referring to.

But having said that was he dead on his feet?

At times I've been among the McVeigh critics but tonight is not the night to go picking on him. He worked hard tonight and had 10 contested possies to half time and he was working very hard to be in good position. Half the team stopped long before he did.

McVeigh as captain is just another poor decision by the coaching staff. I am sensing this may end in tears.

Wasn't he just laying flat on the ground, and yes maybe he had run hard for that ball, hoping this was the case as a captain should never give up

i would rather Kieren Jack be VICE captain and have Goodes as SOLE captain. get some leadership expierience into jack and drop the Co-Captains system

Not dead on his feet, more flat on his back, I think Aus e was referring to the very end of the game where he just gave up instead of getting up and chasing. That's poor form from a captain, I can understand he was frustrated and the game was over, but you still don't wanna see that, not from a swans player, and definitely not from a swans captain. Poor form McVeigh. Up until that point I thought he played well, better than he had all season, but that's inexcusable, and to make matters worse, a big guy like Mumford was running his ass off applying pressure.

I don't think he has the right mentality to be captain. Goodes had a shocker too.

One of our best tonight and led by example. Odd thread.

Very odd tonight, played very well and was going in for the hard ball tonight.

I do rememberer the incident and while I thought it was odd my thought was he didn't have the energy. I'm not necessarily sold on him as captain but tonight the thread does not really belong.
