I think we are about to witness the final half that Paul Medhurst will ever play for Freo. I feel sorry for the guy because you can see his confidence is shot to bits, where is the guy who would never pass the ball off and go for goals no matter the position on the ground :(

I reckon you are right Cam.

I am on record as not being a fan of his, but I do feel for the guy.

But his form in the WAFL did not make him worthy of a start, and that is showing in todays shocking display.

The only thing worse than his game today is the ice skating rink they are playing on.

Telstra Dome....hang your head in shame...what a cow paddock..

.

Sad, but he hasn't learnt from his spell in the WAFL.

Confidence appears shot, decision-making still absolutely terrible!

Frustrating because he can be so good.

He'll be back for the finals.

And hopefully J. Carr, Headland, Haze, Grover, Thornton and JLo will be back as well.

So how can that crab get a place??

None of the guys you mentioned play the position that Medhurst does.
Connolly should play Medhurst as a small forward where he has done damage before(kicked 9 goals against Brisbane few years back) and rotate Paul and Wiz on a regular basis. I think Medhurst will break out in a game soon and hopefully he can regain some form for the finals.

I agree with you TP3. too much natural ability, it's still there ,don't worry about that.

Unfortunately you can't waste a spot in the 22 swapping two small forwards. The midfield needs as much fresh legs as it can get. Especiall when they are specialist small forwards without much versatility.

Well thats your opinion, but I fail to see how you can keep playing a guy based on what he did a few years ago and what he might do in the future.

Like you mentioned we already have a small forward in Wiz so why do we need two?? How many clubs have two specialist small forwards?? We can rotate guys like Haze and Dessy through there, we have done it before and it works well.

Sorry TP3 but his form in both WAFL and AFL has been terrible and his time is up.

You don't think we'll have any injuries or suspensions over the next 3 or 4 weeks?
He's a very good back up to have if Farmer gets injured or suspended.

I think refering to him as a crab is a bit disrespectful and not good form from a supporter of the club he plays for. He was extremely ordinary today, but the guy can play, no doubt about that.

Bit harsh on Medhurst. No need to call him a crab. You wouldn't have been calling him a crab when he has one of his days out. His confidence is obviously shot.

The only way he is going to get confidence back is an extended run in the team however he will get dropped with all our players returning soon.

I understand where you are coming from but as redgum said also, he has the natural ability to be a special player. He has a booming kick and plenty of power in his legs, and if he could fix up his awareness im sure the club could use his abilities for the future.
Also a few clubs have a good small forward system. Geelong has Chapman and Ablett Jr, Melbourne has Davey and Robertson and the Bulldogs have Robbins and Eagleton. Surely with the right coaching we can bolster the forward line with an inform Medhurst.

The guy can be a star, but there's no way he's in our best 22 at the moment. With Hase, Dessie and Josh due back in soon, along with J Lo, Grover, Scotty (maybe) there's too many other in form that deserve a spot before Megastar.

Former borderline players like Spud, Gilmore, Peake, Webster, Cookie and Macca have all stepped up. Rog has come in and looks great. Drum looks pretty poised.

He's not in our best 22 atm. That simple.

With all the combinations you mentioned they all have the ability to rotate through the midfield and Medhust doesn't have that ability. He is a one trick pony. Forward pocket or nothing.

geez he's frustrating, so much talent but he's not with it at the moment

IMO i dont like him in the same side as farmer and i reckon blokes like drum and webster deserve a spot ahead of him in the next month

What would you want from the Eagles for him?

Name a player or a draft pick if nobody jumps out at you.

cheers.

Young Armstrong would be fair I reckon

Interesting, I'd be borderline on that, depends how Army finishes the season and whether he can keep amoungst the goals. Medhurst has the obvious talent but Jeffrey is by far the better small forward (always has been) and I don't think there is room for both of them in your forward line. It will be interesting to see if Connolly pulls the trigger on a Medhurst trade as he's been back the guy in for a fair while prior to the last few weeks.

Very good point, I doubt they can. How soon can you upgrade a rookie after delisting players?

He'd be a fair chance to be upgraded but I doubt he can be traded as soon as he is put on the main list for 2007. Will be interesting whether Armstrong and Priddis both manage to get upgraded really.

Any other players of interest?

Is Priddis on your rookie list as well?? Bugger...he was my next choice.

We'll just have to settle for that crab Judd then;)

Seriously what about Sampi and we'll throw in a 2nd round pick.
