Melbourne could possibly maybe get Cotchin (but probably not)

A few things have been said on the radio that makes me think that Melbourne will get Cotchin at 4.

Greg Miller said on SEN this morning when talking about the Judd dealings that "West Coast valued pick 2 a lot higher than pick 3". That was because WC wanted Morton and knew that Richmond did too.

Scott Clayton on the weekend said he was very confident the Dogs would get the player they want at 5 and said he was pretty sure WC would take Palmer or Maston.

I think it will be:

1. Kruezer
2. Morton
3. Palmer/Maston
4. Cotchin
5. Who knows with Clayton, could be anyone.

Craig Cameron has said that he would "read Cothin's name out very quickly" should he slip to 4 - so I hope you're right.

No chance.

If he gets to 3, WCE will take him.

Masten and Palmer are going to be great players but not in the same class as Cotchin. The Judd saga wont affect this drafting decision.

And that is based on what?

Because Woodhouse rates Cotchin as the best player in the Draft and has said if we had pick 1 thats who he would go with.

We will draft the best player whether the player is from Vic, WA, SA or Hong Kong even with how recent events have unfolded.

We valued pick 2 higher than pick 3 because we wanted to make sure we got Cotchin.

We wont take Morton at 3 if he's available, not necessarily because of Cale's ability more to do with stuff out of his control.

Its possible.

I think we will either end up with Cotchin, Palmer or Masten.
Either way i'd be happy... Palmer looks pretty good.

We valued pick 2 higher than pick 3 because we wanted to make sure we got Cotchin.

We wont take Morton at 3 if he's available, not necessarily because of Cale's ability more to do with stuff out of his control.

Everyone in football knows Richmond will take Morton. If WC wanted Cotchin they knew pick 3 would be good enough and wouldn't have even cared about pick 1.

I think your right on both those points, and I think west coast wont take Cale because the Morton dad and the club don't get along very well.

It would make it very interesting if we pick Cotchin at pick one which is much more realistic than many people think. Kruezer is definatley not a lock like people say he is.

on sen last week john worsfold said he wanted cotchin as soon as he knew judd wanted to be traded.........the story going around is that west coast gave up mitch mortan to richmond for such a light price (3rd rounder) was because west coast wanted assurance that richmond wouldnt draft cotchin and would take cale mortan instead

if cotchin is there at 3 there is no bigger certainty than west coast grabbing him from the way wosha was talking

2 - Richmond - Morton (they have his brother)
3 - West Coast - Plamer / Masten (Cotchin and his family have stated they dont want to go to West Coast)
4 - Melbourne - Cotchin

The draft after Pick #1 is pretty open this year. The Tigers could go with Cotchin, or they could go with Morton. However I think the Eagles will take whichever player the Tigers pass up on. That then leaves us with a variety of choices - either way we will land a very, very good player. Craig Cameron and his team know what they are doing.

No doubt we will take Cotchin if he is available but we will still be drafting some excellent young players come the end of November!

To the Wc eagles supporters out their how good is this kid really? ive heard his exceptional carnival bumped him up a bit in terms on the draft.
precarnival they expected him to go 30+ after the carnival top 10.

I doubt we can get Cotchin but wud b a steal if we cud get him at 4

Wishfull thinking, and old, incorrect information. Cotchin's family have claimed that they were misquoted and that he is happy to play for the Eagles should they draft him. I seriously doubt that Cotchin will last past pick 3.

I said on a previous post that carlton are seriously looking at cotchin with the 1st pick, infact the recruting staff is actually split on cotchin and kruzer. If Carlton pick Cotchin will Richmond get Kreuzer? If Cotchin is number 1 I suspect we would be a real chance to get him at 4.
