Surely these two teams should merge. Between the two of them they might just be able to put a winning season together. Considering both clubs irrelavence to the modern game they might invoke some interest from outside thier own supporter base.

You might be onto something. I mean, 10 teams came together to form the Crows and they have heaps of members. I'd be much happier if I supported a franchise :thumbsd:

dumbest thread in a lil while.

tigers will NEVER merge. 25 yrs of pain and still one of the highest supporter bases. you do the maths.

Richmond Win Count 1 (Won by 30 Points).

Melbourne Win Count 0 (Loss by 104 Points).

Adelaide Win Count 0 (Loss to a Bulldogs side that won't make the 8).

NEXT!!!

Adelaide should merge with with John Farnham and take the pressure down.

Funny that Badelaide cant even fill there games :), but the tiges always get 40 +
Crows Average more in a smaller stadium per game mate...Third highest club in the league, for average HOME crowd.....I think you will find Richmond are sixth...

http://www.theroar.com.au/2008/01/25/football-codes-crowd-attendance-afl-leads-the-way/

Adelaide Average Home Crowd 41,992

Richmond Average Home Crowd 38,292

And that is with games against other Victorian sides. At a Crows game it is 95% Adelaide Supporters.

Tigers won't merge - could get 4 spoons in a row and still notch up 30,000 members.

It'll be Melbourne and Bulldogs.

The West Melbourne Bulldogs. You know it makes sense.
West Melbourne Kangaroos?

Congrats your top 8 team averaged @ 3000 more per home game than the team the finished dead last. You must be so proud. :o

But if you like check out the last time Richmond played in a successful season. In 2001 both the sides made the 8 and the Tigers averaged 46,129 compared to the Crows 39,627.

Thats nice.

But you have to remember that to every game against a Vic team there would be at least 20% support from the other team. For Crows home games it is about 98% Crows people....

Also look at 2004. Both our teams missed the 8, us having our worse year since 1999. Our average stayed at 39000, yours dropped to 35000. Plenty of fairweather supporters there. Crows people stay with their team, whilst Tigers leave when they are unsuccessfull.

You can crap on about things you cant prove all you like.

Fact is, Richmond draw the big crowds and wont merge.

Fact is, Adelaide is a franchise club without a win. :thumbsu::)

Again you must be proud, 39k while a team that finished dead last again still managed to draw 35k despite winning just 4 games. Your side won a few more games that year and could only attract 4000 fans more per game. The fact is Adelaide is one of 2 teams in SA and gets majority of the support, Richmond is one of 9 Melbourne based teams and consistently out draws a number of more successful clubs. WHen they finally achieve successive years of finals they will crap on any numbers that the Crows can put up.

I would say that minimum 30% of your crowd figure would easily be Opposition team supporters most weeks.

For us it is less than 2% that is the difference.....

I realise that in the forceable future this will never happen. I just thought a merger of one club who cant compete in the modern game with support and another who can (at times) compete, but dont seem to have any real support would be a good fit. And you have been co-tennants since the late sixties of the G.
