This is my story about what has happened to me,in October I bought my 8 year old son a legends membership to go with mine when I bought it I told the person I needed to be seated next to my son reasons being he is only 8 years old when the change your seat period come up I rang up and got directed to an answering machine the message said to leave your membership number name and conctact phone number, I did this but never received any phone call I have contacted the club numerous time via email and telephone these calls were a waste of time, today I received a phone call from a member of the membership department saying that they can’t get my son next to me now because it was to late, I told him this has been going on since October how can it been to late he then said that I should of rang up in change seat period which I informed him I did this was about the 5th time I had told him he then had the audacity to tell me that I should of realised that the message on the answering machine was wrong and I should of rang back earlier trying to shift the blame I got very angry after that now we are at a stalemate because of the incompetence of the membership department I would like some ideas for my next step.

Assuming what you are saying is the entire story then: Escalate it (in writing) to the CEO or even Eddie

On this Baltimore Jack is correct.

Detail it in writing to CEO and President.

Whilst mistakes happen no child should be seated away from their parents in your circumstances.

Good luck and hopefully this rectified so everyone can enjoy our wins together.

I don’t want a refund I want to go to the footy with my kid they have offered me top level for all my 18 games which is not good enough I pay $1500 a year to get good seats this was their stuff up they need to fix it

I understand, but they should be offering a discount or complimentary membership for the stuff up.
 
That whole period was a stuff up., no one would answer the phone , only after calling literally 100 times they answered after 2 days .
I’m grateful I’ve got amazing seats for this season., but I do feel sorry for this bloke and his child.

The seat selection thinng was a bit of a shit show. After you left your details the first time how long did you wait to contact them again? I was able to get through a couple of days later and got things sorted for me and girlfriend.
 
Had another phone call to them today still no resolution a supervisor is going to ring me next week to sort it out I don’t think it will though fingers crossed

Club AGM is 13th February - keep that in your back pocket if it doesn’t get resolved before then. As a Lengends member you should have received notification.

When these kind of issues get brought up amongst the questions, Ed usually responds with something along the lines of “Well we’ve got Bob here (or whatever the name is of the executive in charge of membership) - Bob, can you get this member’s details and follow it up. That’s why we have these occasions to sort this kind of thing out.”

Edit: to clarify for your sake TD as I didn’t look at who made the post - why on earth would we implore that this is brought up with the media, particularly when we only have one side to the story and also when we already get enough of a bum rap for publicity as it is. This is definitely not the solution.

Letter to high ranking officials is definitely the go.

I was more meaning IF Club Refuses to help even after Going up the Ladder in the Club talking to Higher People.

It’s pretty disappointing that the club can’t deliver basic customer service. I don’t have experience with other sporting organisations but anecdotally it seems to be systemic in the industry. I just waited 32 days for a response to an email. How can that even happen? In what world can a business accept terrible service and not put processes and controls in place to ensure their customers are looked after?

I love the club and don’t let things like this sour that, but it really does stagger me that a business accepts such poor standards for such fundamental matters.

I don't rely on the Club for seating or anything. My membership is purely a donation. I use my MCC membership for access. Which is only a good thing, considering I haven't received my membership card for last season yet, let alone this years. I couldn't be bothered chasing it up but if I did, I think a visit to the Holden Centre would be the way to go. The response over the phone and email sounds disastrous.

Definitely go into the club and talk to them face to face. Don't wait for the supervisor to call you next week as it will most likely not happen.
 
Mate, I feel your pain with the ineptness of this membership department, everything from the website, the stupid mymagpies account (run by Ticketmaster so no surprise it’s ****ing shit) and the responses I get from the membership department. I live overseas so I can’t call because the time zones are too different.

I’ll give you a glimpse of the situation I’m in right now.
1. My bank card expired on the mymagpies account so my membership payment could not be deducted, I changed my card details yet it still has the old card listed in the invoice and won’t let me change it.
2. I decided to avoid that and just sign up with the normal site and list my membership number. Before doing so I deleted my card details from the mymagpies account just in case so I don’t get double billed. When I change my country to Germany the list of states/the entire format for Australia stays the same and I can’t change that (I don’t want to risk my stuff being sent elsewhere). I also quickly tested this on the Richmond membership site, and as soon as I changed the country the format changed ( I didn’t proceed past this point, don’t want to give Richmond anything).


I mentioned these problems in an email as well as a few more things and got a crap response 2 weeks later which ignored most of the things I wrote. But the one helpful thing I realised is that you have to notify them that you’ve changed your bank details on the mymagpies account. So I re-added my details, sent them two emails and in two weeks they still haven’t gotten back to me. In this time they’ve also tried once again to deduct from my old bank card, even though there is no way seen to delete that card from file because it does not show in my list of bank cards.

To say I’m frustrated by this is an understatement, it’s compounded because every single year I’ve had some problem with the membership process.
 
Also if someone who attends the AGM could ask why we are using Ticketmaster to run our online membership accounts even though throughout their history they’ve proven to be incompetent, that would be great.

I got an email convo going with the membership team about my missing membership . And I couldn't resist highlighting that the membership page is completely and utterly useless.
There is no trace whatsoever of me ever being a member in the past years nor does it even tell me what membership I have bought this year. Provided screenshots and as reply I get back the question whether I am logged in???

But in answer to OP, I wouldn't go to a media outlet . The media doesn't want to help you, they want to sell a story by hanging crap on our club as much as they can. Leave that to the opposition.
But perhaps you can use social media if plan A doesn't work. Have a whinge on twitter, tag Collingwood FC and who else might be interested. And if you can, post the link here so that others with a twitter account can retweet it.
