Found this article by Sam Kekovich - don't know which paper it was from, but, for memory, i think he wrote for the Truth.

YOU HATE THE TIGES, BUT AREN'T THEY GREAT!

It's party policy to hate Richmond's guts, but I've got to admit that Richmond is THE football club of the moment.

It's quite probably the most powerful football club ever to take a stranglehold on the game.

And the Tiges will need to be as great as they think they are to stay on top next season.

One way or another, either through football ability or ruthless football administration, the club has alienated most of its rivals.

You either hate them becasue that are so good or you hate them because you got the wrong end of the stick in a deal.

Whatever the reason, it's the side you like to beat. And that's going to be the Tigers' greatest hurdle this coming season.

IT GOES ON AND ON ABOUT WHAT THEY WILL HAVE TO DO TO STAY ON TOP NEXT SEASON. I THINK IT'S AFTER THE '74 GRAND FINAL BUT CAN'T BE SURE BECAUSE ARTICLE IS UNDATED.

I DON'T THINK WE'LL EVER SEE THOSE DAYS AGAIN :-(

They need to get down here and chat with some straight shooters,

Everyone still hates us .
Media still love to hate us.

Times haven't changed really only our team is sheisenhausen now.

Well we used to have loads more supporters when we were on top, but the going got too tough for them and they jumped ship to a winning team.
This is to Bomber supporters-after the pain of your first 2 losses, times that pain by 10 and you will have a bit of an idea of the pain Tiger supporters feel at the moment-no wonder we are all alcos.:D

There's a good chance "Bones" McGhie was looking threateningly over Slammin' Sam's shoulder for him to write something nice about us. :)
The editor of The Truth lived a couple of doors away from where I grew up. Was a decent bloke to be in charge of such a low-life publication. All the kids used to buy it to read "Heartbalm."
Still amused today remembering Jack Dyer's column called "Dyer 'ere" and Billy Picken's called "Picken Nose." All class.
