I work on boats.

Now, I actually know nothing about boats. However, since I saved the boat from destroying itself and most of Williamstown the other week (this may be a slight exaggeration), I was given a pair of epilets as a reward.

Now that I have been wearing said epilets, I find chicks on the boat, being the naive, shallow creatures they are, talk to me much more readily.

Are chicks really attracted to the uniform thing? And is that really how you spell "epilets"?

Sbagman.

You know how sailors wear those (usually) black pieces of material on their shoulders, with (usually) gold stripes on them to indicate rank? I'll see if I can scrounge up an image.

So what article of clothing did you attach them to?
I'm picturing a wind cheater...

White shirt. Uniform white shirts sometimes have these button down flaps of material on each shoulder where you can attach them to.

Maybe I can find a pic of that too...

I wear a work uniform. Dark blue polo with the company name on it in yellow and white.

Throw in a tubby bloke with long hair who dresses like it's 1978, and I can't understand why chixx don't cream themselves.

And you're from Freo??? Never seen a naval uniform before??? Try stepping outside your front door...

Fair enough, just pulling your chain. I had a vision of you wooping 'em out on the weekend, to try and pickup.

Had to wear a uniform for the 6 years i was in the Navy, now that i'm out, i work in the offshore Oil and Gas industry, which includes working on offshore oil rig tenders. We can be working on the deck of a oil rig tender(covered in grease soaked to the skin from waves crashing over the tender), to look up and see some knob thinking he is captain Nemo, with his epualtes on(wa-ker).

Is it not disrespectful to be wearing epaulets when you haven't earned them?

Not to say your heroics weren't worthy...

Might be more suitable to have "Sbagman" sewed into his shirt. PM me Sbaggy, I can get you a quote. :D

Id be interested to hear what boat(they are normally called a ship or a vessel) and what happened. Having spent the last 16 years working at sea has my interest in this subject.

Well, like I said, it was a gross exaggeration . And yes, I admit, I know nothing about marine vessels (better?). Vessel was the "Little Gem", a 16 metre diesel driven vessel. I was the ignorant deckhand. Putting her alongside, i jumped onto the wharf to put the spring on... engine failed, and it can't be started from the wheelhouse. So the Gem has a lot of forward momentum, and only meters from the wharf. Luckily, I responded to the screaming of the skipper "just get the spring on anything!" and got it on before it slammed into the wharf. Could have been alot worse if I'd failed to get the spring on in that split second, would have done a fair bit of damage to the boat, the wharf, and possibly the passengers on board. Was thanked by the skipper, who had just gained his master 5, and apparently would have lost it if we had had anything more serious. He rewarded me by loaning me the epaulets.

I just did my job, nothing more, but he was appreciative and kindly lent me the epaulets.

As an ex serviceman women were never a problem. Particularly when in ceremonial uniform with red beret and three stripes on the sleeves.

Oh and it works both ways I have a thing for policewomen, nurses , Paramedics and Flight Attendants

God I am shallow:)
