I'm with PLSC on this one. Good goalkicking is infectious. But bad goal kicking is a plague, and Kingsley is the type of rat that spreads it. We already have Richo and Browny who spray it a bit. We don't want a third one. If he was a sharpshooter or if he was 25 I'd say maybe. But he isn't. He's a 28 year old who is a poor kick for goal, whether ends up with 9 or 90.

And I understand Bojangles argument that the club are looking at him as a backman, but I haven't seen much from him that suggests he is a backman and at best it would be a short term option.

The Richmond Footy Club should now be narrowing its options down to 2:
  1. promote Howat and take 3 rookies
  2. leave Howat on the rookie list and grab a young bloke in the PSD and a couple more in the rookie draft.
My preference is the second, simply because it lets us jump in before most other clubs to get amongst the best of the rest.

Well I bagged our recruitment of P.Bowden last year and I lost on that one, so if the club decides to take Cant Kicksley then I'll be behind them until it turns out to be a flop :thumbsu: :D

pat bowden was a young bloke who needed an opportunity, kingsley's had his chance

wow kent kingsley has 200 goals next to his name, forgive me for thinking he's been a forward for the last 10 years

nathan ablett was trying to give him goals on a silver plate in the vfl granny and he still found ways to stuff it up

he'll be good for a laugh :thumbsu:

Kicking something like just under 200 goals in 4 seasons prior to 2006 gives good reason to suggest that he would be in ur top 3 forwards at the club.

Based on that argument perhaps we should try and pry Sav Rocca out of retirement or give Tony Lockett a call and see what he's up to...

You are only as good as your last season and at 29 next year, and with a mere 10 goals to his name in 06, Kent is on the downward slope.

I would far rather give opportunities up front to youngsters Schulz, Hughes & Riewoldt even if they prove to less effective over the course of this season. Getting games into these young forwards as opposed have moderate success with a two time, recycled journeyman is the way to go IMO.:thumbsu:

Your all missing the ********in point

"IF" ...and i mean "IF" .. they took KK , it would be to play at the other end of the ground .

Plough has made it known that he was look at James Pod"whatevahisfrigginname" was from Werribee at FB , and i have no doubt that that is what he is looking at with Kent .

We have no-one on our list other than a very young and injury prone Will Thursfield who is capable of going with a fast leading Key-forward and i have absolutely no doubt that TW is looking at him as an option to play this role for a couple of years whilst we develop other options .... and don`t give me Gaspar ...pffft or the Hall of shame...pffft again

They would not be drafting Kingsley to play FB, Richo who was just on the radio said that Kingsley (if he was drafted which it appears he will) would be playing out of full forward with Brown with Richo at CHF.

Kingsley down back would be unbelievably unsuccessful.

lol it'd be ALMOST as funny as watching him in the forward line

You are not wrong. He either plays in the forward line or not for Richmond! And from the feelings of others, they are keen for Schulz, Hughes and even Riewoldt to get a go ahead of him. I must say that having a look at the boys at training the other day, I wasn't too impressed with Kingsley. His skills are average at best (although he would really only be using them for set shots, which he has been shaky with anyway). I really don't know if he is the way forward for the club. Put it this way, you wouldn't want him and Richo having a bad day in front of the goals. As for the rankings based on training performances, I believe he is in the 20s.

Perry is not training with the club as documented elsewhere, but is drastically overrated by many posters on this board. Sure, he is mobile and might provide a defensive option, but I think he is pretty average when up against a good forward. He can make an average forward look terrible, but can be made look horrible himself if up against someone of any class. I hope Hawthorn get him.

Rookie list hopes must include Hier and King. Both have shown a bit and may be given a chance. The club, I understand, has made another submission to the AFL regarding changing the mature rookie rules for Pods. If they are changed to 'having not played a senior game', I believe he will be picked up by the Tigers. TW might think it to be too much of a risk to pick him up in the PSD.

For the PSD, unfortunately I think Kingsley still leads the way. Pods is still in with a rough show, while the other two I spoke about as well as Batsanis, must be good chances for a rookie list spot.

kingsley would be ok even if he just makes sarge, cleve et al work for thier spot. healthy competition is a good thing rather than a bunch of kids just being walk up starts.

Kicked 8 goals in round 2 this year.

How many AFL players can claim that on their CV.

Kingsley will be a boom recruit for Richmond...don't worry about that.

Now all you need to do is have the guts to draft him.

There's also not many players who boast the inauspicious claim of being held goalless by Zac Dawson.

I have it on very good authority that you guys have a verbal agreement with KK that you will definitely be taking him in the PSD.

2 things and im not bothered either way if kent is a tiger or not i trust TW

1- why didnt kent nominate for the draft??
the tiges must be the only team who are interested
they told him if they didnt take their pick 6 in the draft they would prob take him in PSD unless an exceptional young talent was found
so i think he is already a tiger otherwise why wouldnt you nominate

2- in team simulation at training we have gasper at fullback
and guess who he is playing on
thats right kingsley
why would TW bother doing that match up if he wasnt keen on getting kent

So ... how do you think about plough looking at recruiting and playing Podsaidly down back ?(publically stated)

... and of course whatever Richo said on radio must be true

Looking forward to seeing what happens Nostradmus ...bookmarked

Kingsley hard at it in training trying to save his career.

pods although never good has seen some time in the backline before

kingsley although never good has never played in the backline

get rid of this heck i n g thread its giving me the s h i t s

use it on Howat (if there are no decent kids left). He deserves a chance on the senior list.

Why are we waiting to now. They should have used the selection at the main draft. They should have been organised enough to know who was next on their hit list rater than wait for another 5 clubs to make selections.

Kent Kingsley

2005 games: 24, goals: 57 - (2.4 goals per game)
2004 games: 24, goals: 48 - (2.0)
2003 games: 15, goals: 33 - (2.2)
2002 games: 22, goals: 57 - (2.6)

Pretty solid record that is.

He is now 28, sposed to be in his prime.

If he can kick 50 odd goals as Geelongs no.1 forward he should be handy as our 2nd/3rd tall forward.

If we draft him or otherwise, I hope we pick up Kingsley for Coburg.

....

Bookmark away, Wallace like's turning careers around but I don't think turning a soft forward with horrible skills into a key defender will be high on the list, especially with Polak joining the club.

I don't know if I've posted this somewhere else or earlier in here but maybe TW's reason behind drafting Kent is;

1) He should kick 2 or so goals a match provided he plays up forward. If he does, we should kick at least 15+ goals a week which will equal more wins (you would think so)

2) He will take the oppositions 3rd (maybe even 2nd) best defender, Richo the 1st and Browny will probably get the 2nd, leaving Pettifer with the 4th best which should see him dominate like he was before getting the 2nd best defender in late 2006.

We could very well be "using" KK in the sense that he will assist us in a couple extra wins that we may have not won...which could mean a place in September, which obviously we would be making up numbers, but it would be good experience for the younger players

yeh and while all this is happening we are getting murdered in the backline as always

im not a fan of it either way but if you are gonna take a 28 year old dud who has failed at 2 clubs it might aswell be a backmen

we'll see what happens
