I was at the game and it was pretty epic. Looked unbelievable!

When your dishing out a 90+ point drubbing, it's a fantastic! Obviously you wouldn't do it when the game is intense, but it's fantastic to be apart of when you're killing them.

As one of those who was a protagonist of starting the wave we actually tried starting it in an anti-clockwise fashion about 7-8 times and couldnt get anywhere so we were booing that part of the crowd. With a little bit of chatter we tried doing it the other way and it just went berserk. Great atmosphere. Best atmosphere from a game i've been to in a long, long time.

Great job and yeah saw it change direction ... but it was funny as coz as you guys got it launched the other way, the first direction finally got going and there was a massive head on mexican wave collision behind the Subi end goals - laughed my **** off :thumbsu:

Side note, it's pretty epic when you see pictures of the game and some of the players celebrating with the crowd after kicking a goal and the crowd just looks so jubilant.

Probably 5/5 chris mastens for jubilant

Love the wave in the right context - end of a good season/ a final, when WC are up by 10+ goals in the last quarter. Great atmosphere!
I agree! It just added to the carnival atmosphere at the ground.. the crowd just having fun.

I love it, provided it is used appropriately. I can only remember it being used twice; final round last season and on the weekend. Both were massive wins in significant games. I see it as the crowd no longer urging tje team on, but thanking tjem for their efforts. If it annoys the opposition, so much the better.
Exactly what I thought. Last two minutes of the game, it's really just thanking the players and making it obvious how much we've enjoyed the season.

I don't like it only because people stop watching the actual game. But in the last two minutes, it's not really an issue. About the third time around the chant was going and the wave hit the three tier stand... amazing atmosphere.

Loved it at the game. We were in the second tier of the three tier stand and having a ball. Had a few pissed guys revving up the crowd and some drunken Roos slag getting upset with them.. Very funny and when Kennedy gave us the big celebration we all loved it. What a great game to go to.

Don't mind it when we're having a big win and there's the "party time" atmosphere.

To do it in a loss or a close game would just be weird...
it wouldn't be done in those cases. It seems to have become a tradition for the Eagles to flog sides in the final game held at Paterson's, and the crowd has responded by partying in this way. It's done for a different reason to the Mexican waves at cricket or wherever it all started. People criticising it ignore the crowd's motivations.

Personally, I could get used to such a tradition. Provided the boys keep their end up by pounding the visitors.

I don't usually like it but thought it was appropriate in this case - 1.started with a couple of minutes left in the game 2. last game of the season at home 3. a massive win 4. a way of celebrating the season.
:thumbsu:

All this and more. You could feel the good vibes through the telly and see that the crowd was loving it.

Well we did it in round 24 against Adelaide last season and no one said anything against it. Do it in a final against North and everyone starts crying.

Gonna sound like an old fart but **** it. I voted 'hate it' for several reasons;

1. As Cometti noted, it's so passe. Trends sure move slowly in good ol' W.A.
2. The Mexicans may have started it but the Seppos flogged it to death and it seems that whatever they do, the rest of the friggin' world just has to copy. Yankee BS just does my head in.
3. Disrespectful to our players. If it were me playing the game I'd be thinking we've busted our balls all
season culminating in a great performance today and our own supporters are telling us they're bored.

Pretty sure the players know what its about and love it. In the last quarter they were somewhat interacting with the crowd. They know whats going on more than we give them credit for. Plus its the ultimate insult to the opposition if we are smashing them, but keep it to the last game. I was somewhat disappointed we didnt get the haunting EEEEEEAAAAGLES chant going. It did start a few times but didnt kick off

Don't agree at all. Just the crowd having fun and appreciating a thrashing in a final and celebrating a great season. Maybe if it was happening all through out the 3rd quarter or something it may seem like we're bored. Two minutes until the end though, in time with the massive Eagles chant, I highly doubt anyone on the team wasn't enjoying it. Every goal and great play was being cheered tenfold, Dean cox was being cheered all the time for his 250th. Just great, great atmosphere that all coincided with the final siren. It's not like it happens every game, it was the North one, then I think the last time was the last game of the home and away season against Adelaide last year. Another thrashing. It even seemed at times as others have mentioned that the players themselves were mucking around towards the end, as well as all trying to ping shots at goal whether it was really the best play or not.
I think it's great to enjoy these moments, who knows what will happen next week, and it wasn't to long ago we were on the bottom of the ladder with no hope in sight.

bullcrap, even the players were disrespecting the Roos - as said before Shuey at the end grabbing the goal umpires flag to signal another goal - looked to me like they were lapping it up, even running the boundary after a few last quarter goals high-fiving the crowd... what a load of trollop as if the players would think anything of the sort ^

Come on guys, how could you not LOVE that experience. The Chant is going around the ground, Josh Kennedy is batting down handballs and kicking goals from 80 degrees, the enemy coach is tearing up his box and you see that wave coming roaring across the bend.

Electric at the ground, absolutely electric.

If we can't get the ground to sing something like "Na na na na, hey hey, good bye" then the Mexican **** Off Wave is the next best thing.

Though if we could do them in unison ... hmm. Only other thing I would have loved to hear was if we could have chanted "Brad Scott/Scott Brothers" in the Eagles chant style. :p
