The club tweeted today that there will be some changes to our jumper for the 2014 season.

The collar and the stars on the back will be removed from both the home and away strips.

I know some people will be extremely happy about this, both because of the aesthetics and the links to CS.

Personally I liked both elements, but not enough to care all that much that they're gone.

I didn't mind either, but happy enough to see them gone as they were a magnet for controversy at best. Plus I think we have better things to worry about than the symbolism of premierships won 60 years ago.

I hear that Roosy wants to replace our current guernsey with the following:

I associate popped collars and stars/southern cross with scumbag muzza's more than class, but in saying that i didn't mind them that much. Probably glad they are gone though.

Good. Next step is to get rid of that piece of shit emblem with the douchebaggery of a southern cross

Yes please, I've always felt the current emblem was a try hard Collingwood knock off. That is to say, pretentious like theirs. My favourite one during my life time is the one from the 80's that actually had a demon dude's face and he was holding a pitchfork I think. We need a logo that is a demon with Melbourne Demons written on it. Geezus surely that's not hard.

I think we'll be waiting until next year though. Not enough time between the complete restructure and the chasing of sponsors for rebranding.

I think we will just see less and less of the emblem as the year progresses.

Yep, it's time to create history not wallow in it. One thing about the emblem though, as much as it is an overdone conglomeration which closely clones the Liverpool emblem I did enjoy watching that video clip of Jimmy and his pride in explaining the elements - meant more to me than the emblem itself.

Having said that if the club is trying to associate itself with the common man (and woman) and grow down in Casey how the hell were people ever meant to identify with that stuff? Collars, bugler, gimmicky stars, blazers, hammed up guernsey presentations with connections to the 50s/60s. It was a self indulgent Schwab wonderland, population 1.

In an effort to try and embrace the club's heritage, he ended up manufacturing something that at no stage felt authentic or connected.

Of course I connect his series of bright ideas with a period of abject failure, but successes aside, I just never liked any of them.

Going out on a limb here and saying I actually loved the collar, ring of stars and the emblem. Think the club have pulled off some of this off-field stuff very well, like the website and marketing, in attracting a fan base. Just need to put it together on field now.

Me too. Pissed off the stars are gone, collar I can take or leave, but I liked it. If they get rid of the emblem I will rage.

As for getting the old demon logo back, I get people are sentimental, but you have to be kidding me. We'd be a laughing stock - a cartoon demon. Good grief. It's not 1984 and a State comp any more

I actually like our jumper, collar stars and all, I just want then to use a proper red like Essendon's or Sydney's, not the pink red we've being using.

I didn't see him suggesting we bring back the 80s logo, merely his fondness for that logo, and a preference for having a demon in the logo. What is so outrageous about wanting a demon logo for a team called the demons?

Schwab's mish mash effort is awful, with its seven design concepts in one. I look forward to it going, but if it stays then it stays.

I like the emblem but I don't think there is room for it on the jumper.
Should be prominent on stuff like training tops, media polos etc. but makes the jumper look a little cluttered.
Getting rid of the emblem wont erase the past seven years and being the original Australian rules football club we should embrace our history both good and bad, just try to learn from the most recent stuff so it never gets to that stage again.
Not having the emblem will not expunge our most recent past nor is it the reason it occurred.

Yeh I wouldn't want an old logo back, I'd like to see a modern one with a demon on it. I think only us and GWS don't have our moniker somewhere in the emblem? Kids look at emblems and say yeh I wanna be a tiger! or a paddlepop lion! or an eagle! They look at ours and say yeh I wanna be a jumbled pile of shite!

Our emblem belongs on letter heads and such, it looks good from a professional pov IMO.

From a football marketing side though it doesn't do it. Footy is a passionate game which tugs at our basic drawstrings of team and tribe. Our late 90s logo was great, just a subtle modern tinker of it would have been enough.
