Miami is still in the hunt for the playoffs. 16/20 I think in our last 20 games.

Watch out if we make the playoffs we will make the East finals

:)

QT! do u remember me telling you about these Heat when they were last in the atlantic, about 2 games behind New York? I said that the 2 sides who will make their move now are Miami and Utah, and still I think Miami coulda just sneak in. It is very tight, and after the Hornets performance today, Im looking forward to a top 4 finish, only 2 and a half games outside the 4, very exciting indeed. I think the Heat will just fall short though, they should finish 9th!

I think the Heat are almost certainties for the Finals...NJ, Boston, Milwaukee, Orlando, Philly & Detroit look home. Indiana are struggling, Charlotte are so so, the Heat are charging and the Wizards and Raptors are falling away...should be interesting to see who comes away with the 8 spots.

I picked them to make the playoffs in December when they were 5-23. Even Jod thought I was an idiot.

Yes, the Heat will make the playoffs! And after beating the Mavs(who alot of you have said will win the championship) they have shown they got game.As for the Mavs loss?? How they gonna beat lakers if they cant beat the Heat?

Can you find the thread where i said that?? I dont remember cos all year i have been watching them, i knew they could turn it around, too many talented players and one of the greatest coaches ever! I never wrote them off but i admit, i had doubts...

I can't remember the thread, but it was around December 19. In the same thread you stated that Miami were all but gone, so you faith in them had evaporated completely.

Miami are now 2 games out of the eight, and only 5 1/2 games out of the 4. This has been an unbelievable turn around from the Heat. These guys are going to cause all sorts of problems for the top teams come the playoffs.

What are the chances of them making the 4 and getting home court advantage in the first round??

Yeah they look certainties to make the 8 now...with the Raptors in freefall...the Wizards without MJ and Charlotte and Indiana struggling then the Heat could go as high as fourth or fifth. DEpends how the Magic fare...i could seriously see this side going all the way to the Finals the way there playing.

This may be the final chance for Miami as well, with 9 players becoming free agents at the end of the season.
Everything appears to be pointing towards a Miami fairytale in the East.

Miami just a gmae and a half outside of 8th placed Charlotte. Washington and Toronto a game back of Charlotte. I hope Miami make it but it looks like it could come at Washingtons expense and we dont want that happening. I hope Charlotte and Indy miss out and Miami and Washington make, better for basketball in general really.

I personally think it would be good for the League if Washington didn't make it to the playoffs. Then we can concentrate on Basketball and not the old guy and his walking stick.

I knew it was just a get at me post...but i couldnt help myself. I know your not that stupid to suggest that the Wizards missing the playoffs would be good for the league.

It wouldn't be good for the league, but I'd be happy.:D :D

Long may Kobe and the Shaq reign in LA.

Time for my evaluation ...

Both conferances at present are exciting, and will continue to be. Now my attention will be to the East, here goes.

To start prodceedings I would like to remind you all of Miamis horror end to the season last year. If you cant remember it let me refresh your memory. They were the first team to be kicked out of the play-offs, being swept by the one and only Charlotte Hornets, all 3 games thrashings : 26, 26 and 14 pts respectively for games 1, 2 and 3. They seemed to continue this form into the beginning of 2001, not the Miami we are used to. But then came the month of February in 2002, and Xie could start to see Miami improving. And with that Xie gave Miami a big chance for a play-offs birth.

Now, we are witnessing something special here from the Heat, and are playing as good as basketball as anyone in the East right now. Its hard to go past the Pistons who are also playing good basketball, but I would still say the Heat are placed ahead of them. If Miami make the top 4 I believe it will be some kind of a record, if they go onto make the final, that will yet again be something to be remembered for a long time.

Dont worry about New Jersey, they're home and hosed, they'll make the top 2 for sure. But the two other power-house teams in the Atlantic (Orlando and Philly) are 2 under-rated sides, and will probably face eachother in the first round of the play-offs.

Then there is the Central division where Milwaukee and Detroit are fighting for the top posision. This will be a nail-biting finish to see who will finish 2nd in the East, because I think 1st will be beyond both of these sides. So we have New Jersey, Detroit and Milwaukee certainties for a play-offs spot, and will probably finish in the top 4. Now for the 4th team, as I said it will probably be Orlando and Philly, who will streak ahead of the Celtics soon and will stay infront of them. You would probably have to rank the celtics 6th, followed by the Heat in 7 and the Hornets in 8 :)

Indiana will fall away, Washington and Toronto will continue to faid away, and may even finish bottom 4 in they're not careful.

Yes, ok Boston are in great form, but how long will this last? I still think Milwaukee, Orlando and the 76ers will finish ahead of them. Their next two games a big, very big and will prove who they really are. They have the Spurs and the Blazers.

Now for Orlando and Philladelphia ...
These two sides clash with eachother on Monday, which will prove to be very interesting. Then the Magic play two other eastern teams, 1 which will prove to be very tough. They host the Bucks and Hornets at home, you might have to say they could win and lose either of those two games. As for the 76ers, well they have Miami twice in 2 days, one at Philly one at Miami. None of these games are certainties, and they wont really seperate the sides as the games are very evenly matched.

Now to Indiana and Charlotte, who are still very well alive in the finals race. The Hornets are at home or their next 3 games, and from a Hornets point of view that isnt good. They have Phoenix at home on sunday, who they beat a few days ago, Milwaukee which will be tough and they even play Indiana which will be worth 2 games as it is so crucial. As for the Pacers who have won 2 in a row, this is how their draw looks. Atlanta at home, mind you Atlanta are in some form of their own, but Indiana should be too strong for the Hawks. As I mentioned Charlotte and NC, and Miami at Miami.

I dont reallt need to tell you Miamis draw, as I have mentioned it in there where they have Philly twice and Indiana.

It will be do or die for these clubs, and its only going to get closer and tighter. I think it will go down to the last game of the regular season.

Ive tipped that the Hornets wont make the playoffs and im sticking by that. Its still wide open and there is still many games to play. Boston, Milwaukee, New Jersey and Detroit are certainties for the playoffs. Then it comes down to a bunch of teams that include Charlotte, Orlando, Philly, Indiana, Washington, Toronto and Miami. Thats 11 teams fighting for 8 spots.

Washington arent gone yet, they have Seattle, Portland, Denver and GS in the next 4 games, all away but all barring probably Portland, winnable. They just have to keep winning one here or there until God comes back then they have 10 of there last 13 games at home. With MJ back they could put together a run and come home.

Out of the 11, 3 have to miss out. Charlotte, Toronto and Indiana are who i hope miss out but its more likely that Washington will miss out and be replaced by Indy but the Wizards arent done with yet.

Washington are gone, Philly is looking shakey, Charlotte appears to be finding some form, and Miami are still having the occasional hiccup, but are on the charge. I've no doubt Miami will charge into the later rounds of the playoffs, and maybe even win the East. Their confidence must be sky high at the moment.

Coxy,

Who was it that, a little over 3 weeks ago picked the 2nd placed (37-27) Pistons to miss the playoffs? :D ;)

I said that Toronto and Washington would miss out, i still think thats how it will pan out.
