I bumped into Michael at Bennell's first game for Peel at West Leederville. Introduced myself as a Freo member and well-wisher who hoped he'd get back on the park (from memory he was on crutches?). I was touched by his expressed keenness to persevere and his determination to play with Freo again. At the time I thought "good luck"....but came away admiring his attitude, and pleasant approach to a (Freo) stranger.
