There are for and against arguments, no worries.
But I say get Barlow for sure.
I made a long post in the "Season Over - Where to from here?" thread outlining what I reckon we should do over the rest of this year to get us ready for 2017.
And I reckon getting Barlow would be very good for us.
- We could get him cheap
- He would improve our midfield a lot
- He works harder than 95% of the players on our list
- He is a much better Tuck, whom we forced out too soon
- He might only play a year or two, but I expect us to be a really good side again from 2017 and he will only add to that
- You need to have good players at your club, good older players, and next year that will probably only be Deledio at age 30...
Provided that we can indeed get him cheap, then definitely DEFINITELY do it. We may also if we're lucky get some guns like a Prestia, Hurley, B. Crouch or whoever too, but something we lack is another slightly older, more experienced player that is genuinely good, and that works hard.
One (of the) mistake we made after 2013 was forcing Tuck out and also losing Jackson (maybe not our fault there). We lost two older players before their time was up who were both hard workers and very good (most of the time) players in their own right. We overestimated Cotchin and co. to take over by themselves, not to mention screwing up the gamestyle.
So yeah, adding Barlow would be a very good move if you ask me.
