I am going to get in real early and make a big call by saying ‘Young’ Michael Doughty will pull of a major surprise and win the AFC Malcolm Bight medal this year.

No I haven’t been drinking anything this afternoon or smoking any illegal substances that may alter my mind but his consistency over the last 14 or 15 weeks will get him over the line.

His only real competition will come from Scott Thompson or Bernie Vince and i am putting my money on him to win it.

If i had it my way he would still be a bit player and spend more time down at Panther Park but credit where credit is due. A very good consistent season.

3) Thompson
2) Vince
1) Doughty - winner. :thumbsu:

Wouldn't surprise me at all (only in that I'd have him 3rd or 4th after Edwards/Vince/Thommo); he has been extremely good this year, after a patchy start.

Tyson Edwards form in the first half of the season was top notch (not sure if it was his injury or the fact the media started talking about as a possible Brownlow winner) but his form in the second half has dropped off.

He did miss a few games with a hamstring injury and then had a few games of little to no influence. So i don’t think he will be in with a shot.

I have been wrong in the in the past and will be wrong in the future but i just don’t see Tyson Edwards as a serious contender. Same as Goodwin or Bock. .

Doughty is a chance, still think either Vince, Thompson or Edwards will win it although I won't be surprised if Doughty is placed in the Top 5. He's had a very good season thus far.

Second BIG CALL for the night.

If Simon Goodwin hangs the boots up this year (still some speculation on how his back and legs are) Michael Doughty will be an ideal stand in captain for 2 years.

First big call had credence, this one, not so much.

It's time for the Crows youngsters to take charge of the Club.

If Goody were to retire I'd think that the captaincy would be handed to Thompson. Or maybe even Rutten or vB.

I disagree. I think (and this is based on the fact that Goodwin retires this year) the club will look for someone to take over for one or two years.

Someone around the 29/30 mark who will give van Berlo, Rutten, Thompsons a bit more time to mature into a leadership position. And i think Doughty has shown he will be able to inspire the younger guys with his perseverance to keep on knocking down walls in his way.

I also agree it’s time for youngsters to take charge but does the club hold the same opinion. And they make theses decisions. .

I thought to myself - "I'll chime in with something even more outrageous, and yet still plausible, like suggesting Doughty for captain next year" - and whaddyaknow but you beat me to it!

I think Dogga has been terrific this year (again) but I would have thought Vince or Thommo would be right up there with him. Edwards would maybe miss because he had a game or two off. I'd say Doughty would be safe for next year.

Michael Doughty for Prime Minister!!

:D you had to go and take that one extra step didn't ya. You took it too far and wreaked the Internet for everyone.

Anyway everyone knows he will be the next leader of the peoples republic of 'shabang a bang'

Dogga started to set us right, mid/late first quarter, with some fantastic running and body work. He is as hard as and has excellent skills. Great to see some consensus of opinion. Has been a quality player for us for quite a while now.

He also did a great job on Rioli after quarter time IMO. One of the reasons we got back into the game. By the way, saw a few crow boys at the casino last night playing blackjack, and Doughty is a bit of a high roller, Thompson up there too.:D

Dogga really seems to improve with age. And one may think that he has many more good seasons to go.

Looking good so far.
